Site Not Compatible With PHP8

Helix Framework 2 years ago

Hi

I am running the latest version of J4, Helix Ultimate and PHP 8

When I try to access the System Information I get the error message

Call to undefined function Joomla\Component\Admin\Administrator\Model\phpinfo()

On speaking to my host company they told me that the site is not compatible with PHP8.

Can you confirm this please.

Most of my sites run on Helix and I want to be able to use PHP 8 without problems. I really need some help on this as it is beyond me :(

Thanks for your help in advance. Alison

Hi Alison,

There are two answers: or hosting support lie or they do not know anything about Joomla.

Joomla 4 + SP Page Builder + Helix Ultimate works totally okay on PHP 8.0, PHP 8.1 and many cases also on PHP 8.2 but with the last one I am not fully sure.

About error that you saw please ask/search on forum.joomla.org - becuase this message is directly from Joomla core. I can only guess, that preview of PHP info was locked in hosting settings or by .htaccess file.

Thanks Paul

I will look into it further on the forum.

It is a bit beyond me, but I will let you know if I find a solution.

Make simple test:

create file info.php and rewrite that line inside

info_818_2023.png

then run that file from address bar - if no php info inside it means that it was locked.

Thanks Paul

I have done that and it brings up a blank page. I have gone back to the hosting company to see if it is a cPanel setting.

HI again Paul

You were right, the host company had disabled it "for security reasons" - they have now enabled it. Thanks for your support
