PLEASE FIX THIS MESS

Arthur

SP Page Builder 1 year ago

I used to be a desktop developer for over 30 years and I see that developers who know how to code have no idea (or experience) how to build usable and efficient GUI. I used to program and design Apps for many years and now still developing for the web.

HERE ARE FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD REALLY CHANGE

  1. Option on the menu should differentiate when using copy/paste. THIS SHOULD LOOK LIE THIS:

Copy Style Paste Style Copy Text Paste Text

  1. All text settings should be moved over the the PROPERTIES PANEL (on the left) and all of them should be found in one place. At the moment everything is scattered and hard to locate.

  2. TEST YOUR EXTENSION ON 4K monitors in multiple browsers because there are some major issues with scaling When I click on the object and the floating menu pop-up it is usually located far from the edited object (pointing little arrow to the wrong place). Total mess and confusion.

At this moment you got lots of things wrong, super confusing and inconvenient. Please change it I strongly suggest taking a look at WP ELEMENTOR. They got it really right and it is a pleasure to work with this extension for WordPress.

EVERY TIME I TYPE TEXT ON THIS PAGE I GET FRUSTRATED BECAUSE THE EDITOR HERE SUCKS! Home/End doesn't work, I get some wired mouse behavior highlighting the text when I move mouse over. Of course SPPB is the higher priority, but if possible I would change this Forum to something different because is is really poor quality (in a technical terms).

Hi,

Sorry for your experience and thanks for your suggestions. There's no doubt you're willing to help. I will forward your suggestion to the team. Super appreciate your input and observation.

However, from your video:

Copy style works within the SPPB element to SPPB element, not from Joomla or other editor to SPPB, yes. But you can change the text color from the inline editor. Here is a screenshot: https://prnt.sc/FhNHPalOzOzN

I know you guys working hard to make your product better, but the reality is that many users have their own customers, deadlines etc and those customers do not care if I have issues with SPPB or not. they want end result. I also have people working for me doing some page editing and they are asking me why I purchased something which dosn't work. I ask them to do some task and they complain that things are not working !

Now I need to setup the site where users can edit their own articles and if they would have to deal with those formatting issues, I would have to close the site immediately.

As you probably saw in the video the biggest problem is with the text formatting. Am I missing something ? If I need to move big amount of text from other places (MS-WORD, Notepad, another site, PDF etc) I need some simple option to preserve the formatting. the same way as JCE editor does. Unless I am missing something I see no way of doing it in SPPB (as you could see in the video). I am not going to waste my time to edit and format text which has already been formatted properly. That would be a horrendous waste of time. If Page Builder does not allow what JCE could do the it is certainly not a product for me.

Can you provide some kind of deadline when those major issues will be fixed ?

Got no issues copy paste from an article into SPPB.

One way to keep your format:

https://prnt.sc/KCCLZw0_11R_

https://prnt.sc/CS5WZdRsOFNC

https://prnt.sc/fYTgEognsciP

https://prnt.sc/Md1T65MpyMJf

https://prnt.sc/YKe3YGYnie-N

Even when I didn't use the HTML code I can copy paste direct into the pagebuilder and keep the same format from the article. Why didn't you use the "textblock addon" as it should?

See below I did copy-paste direct from an pdf file into a textblock in SPPB4. Not using "code" or what so ever. Directly.. works fine and format kept intact.

Hi Arthur,

As I stated earlier, I have forwarded your video to the developer team. However, if you follow Robert's suggestion it will give you desired output as well.

Best Regards

Hey - Robert, thank you for replying here. What browser you used for this ? I did use different elements on the page with the same result. The text was copied from JCE Editor page and was fully formatted (all elements in place). When I pasted this text it looks like one continuous string. If it works for you then I really do not know what else am I supposed to do to make it work on my end. I just latest Joomla and latest SPPB and Firefox v111.01

Hi Arthur,

It doesn't matter what browser I use. They all work fine. But mainly I use Chrome. I don't use JCE since I use SPPB. Imo there is no real need for it in pagerbuilders. I try to keep the 3th party plugins and extensions to an absolute minimum. Only Akeeba Backup and a Admin Tools. Maybe sometimes RSForms but that's it.

To be honest, for now I only use SPPB 3 and use SPPB4 to play, test and mess around with. I don't think SPPB4 is yet where it should be. I have patience..

I think a post that less experienced people better stick to SPPB3 for now or use it for testing or training purposes. My two cents..
