I've posed these two questions to the "Ask a Question" system and the following answers were given.

You can change the image crop position of the SP Simple Portfolio by using the Options settings. 
To do this, follow the steps below:

    Go to Extensions > SP Simple Portfolio > Options
    Under the Image Crop Position option, select Center
    Click Save & Close

You can change the title position of the SP Simple Portfolio by using the Options settings. 
To do this, follow the steps below:

    Go to Extensions > SP Simple Portfolio > Options
    Under the Title Position option, select Center
    Click Save & Close

No idea what the reference, "Extensions > SP Simple Portfolio > Options" is pointing to since that doesn't seem to exist. I do find "System > Global Configuration > SP Simple Portfolio > Options" and find the "Image Crop Position" that the first answer refers to there but that setting has no effect towards centering the image at all. Your provided code did though. As for the second answer towards centering the title, there is no "Title Position" option whatsoever. Not sure where the "Ask a Question" AI is obtaining this information from but it seems to an incorrect solution. Or, am I looking in the wrong area?
