Attempt To Modify Property "params" On Null With Helix 1.1.4

Hello On a 3.10.11 Joomla with System - Helix Ultimate Framework 1.1.4 I get the error on a category blog menu item:
Attempt to modify property "params" on null
it comes from the helix override : /templates/keynote/html/com_content/category/default_articles.php
on line 14 we have :
$params = &$this->item->params;
This line causes the issue but why please ?
