Slider Disappears: SPPB 5.0.6 Update

Hi,

I have held off with the SPPB v5.0.6 update due to the many issues encountered but I decided to test the latest version and see how things are progressing. Well, as soon as I migrated from v4.0.11, I was presented with a homepage, minus the slider. I am using the Rythm template on my website. I then downgraded to SPPB v5.0.1 and the slider reappeared. I shall revert to SPPB v4.0.11 for the time being since the latest version still has some kinks to work out.

Regards.

I have found the fix. In the row settings, it is hidden on every device.

But the design is little broken. We will fix it in the next template update. Please use SP Page Builder Slideshow addon.

Hi

Thanks for contacting us. Could you please create a test page and then give me that issue screenshot or screenvideo? So that I can forward it to our team.

-Regards.

Hi,

I have created a demo website that has been upgraded with SPPB v5.0.5. One issue that I just noted is that the current version of SPPB; v5.0.6, is not even acknowledged as a system component upgrade. As soon as SPPB v5.0.6 is installed though, the slider disappears. The slider reappears upon reinstallation of v5.0.1 through v5.0.5. This is a copy of the live site so you may have at it without worry.

Regards.

Could you please give me a screenvideo of your issue? I need to forward it to our team.

Hi,

You have admin access to the site; someone has already logged into the backend. Simply update the current SPPB v5.0.5 that I have installed already to v5.0.6 and you'll see the slider disappear. Watching a screenvideo isn't going to provide you more insight into the issue beyond that of actually implementing the update yourselves. That's the whole point of granting you admin privilege access.

Regards.

Hi,

Again, this is not the main site, but merely a copy. Please explain the issue so that I may understand what the issue was in the first place so that I may fix it myself if encountered again.

Regards.

Apology for the inconvenience. I have forgotten the solution. Can you please reproduce it on the test site? I have done something on the homepage addon settings.

Hi,

I've recreated the demo site and tested with it with SPPB v5.0.8. The slider; and now the event list, both disappear as soon as SPPB v4.0.11 is updated to SPPB v5.0.8; as shown below. Please post the fix information here so that I; as well as others, may retain it for future reference.

Regards.

Hi,

There is a bit of a layout issue that I am attempting to trackdown now; the slider's text & images are askew, as shown below. At first, I thought it had to do with the setting; Show Caption Image in Column, being disabled with the SPPB5 update. I re-enabled it as it is in the original with SPPB4 and recreated the settings, cleared the cache, and did hard refresh of page, but nothing changed. Other than that particular setting, I've yet to find any other setting that doesn't match the SPPB4 layout slideshow settings. I'll continue searching but any insight would be appreciated.

**EDIT** Found the issue. The "Select Caption Image Column" setting in SPPB4 was set to 12; which was the same setting I used in the SPPB5 layout. I decided to try different number settings and noticed the image begin to reposition itself. I was able to get the alignment corrected by setting it to 9 vice 12. No idea why there is a settings variation between SPPB4 >> SPPB5 version for the exact same element but that seems to have fixed it for the moment. I'll keep an eye on that setting as SPPB5 continues to develop but hopefully this isn't going to be a recurring issue upon further version updates.

BTW, I am using the SPPB Slideshow; it was installed by default in the original Rythm template, so I am not understanding your recommendation above. Please clarify.

Additionally, I notice that the "Hidden on Desktop" option is no longer present. How do we now hide elements that are specific to a small screen layout while not being desired/necessary on the big screen layout?

Regards.

Thanks for the finding. It might be due to there is additional CSS used on Rythm Slideshow. We have changed in the addons and it will work normally. The issue is happening to the Rythm specific CSS only.

Hi,

Your image does not depict the solution to the issue, it actually portrays the exact point that I am making; which is what I am attempting to get clarified. After checking several other elements, I find that the Hidden on Desktop option seems to be no longer present anywhere in the SPPB5 settings; hence my question above.

So that you better understand the issue, I have screenshot both SPPB4 & SPPB5 Slideshow Advanced Settings and posted them below in a side-by-side. As I stated, this issue seems to be prevalent throughout SPPB5; not just the Slideshow element alone. I'm sure that I am not alone when it comes to creating layout elements strictly designed for the mobile interface, of which I have no desire to display while one is viewing the Desktop/Laptop interface.

Regards.
