500 - Internal Server Error After Upgrade To Joomla 4

Joomla: 4.4.2 PHP 8.2.15 DB: MariaDB 10.6.15 Helix Ultimate: 2.0.18 Template: Wimble Version 2.0.0 (should be J4 ready according to the documentation, but generates a lot of message in the debugger) Memory Limit: 256M Debug System: On Error Reporting: Maximum

I upgraded a custmer site from J3 to J4. Backend works fine so far but frontend generates issues. Home page is displayed properly, but any other menu item results in below error message, same when using the SPPB frontend editor. No debug or error reported.

Hi there!

Sorry for your experience.

The wimble template is compatible with PHP 8.0 maximum. Kindly downgrade to PHP version 8.0, clear caches deeply and then check again to see if it helps!

Hi Rashida,

downgrading to PHP 8 did not help.

But I did some further testing and wanted to provide you with an update.

  • I started from scratch installing the J3 backup. Frontend working fine.
  • I deactivated all plugins possibly causing troubles with the upgrade.
  • I successfully upgraded to J 4.4.2
  • I installed Wimble version 2.0.0 and still receive error 500 as well using PHP 8 when using any menu item
  • I switched to Cassiopaia as standard template and got it basically working
  • I installed Decora template and switched to PHP 8.2
  • Now everything seems to work fine, except, that I receive bunch of warning regarding Decora template and SPPB; I copied a few lines in the hidden content section.

I will continue from here and try to get the websitre working using Decora.
