How To Properly Add Images To Gazette Theme Articles

Hey,

I have a problem how to properly add images to articles in the Gazette theme (meaning a normal article to some category of articles on the site).

The sample articles that I received as part of the quick start package have several different images in them with different sizes and different numbers written on them. So several images had to be added to one article. But the "Blog Media" tab only allows you to upload one image...

So of course I tried several times to use the default Joomla section "Images and Links", but after adding such images the site returns an error message because there is no instruction in the site.php file what to do with these images.

It looks like this:

Warning: in /www/doc/www.dialog-komunistickylist-migrace.online/www/templates/shaper_gazette/sppagebuilder/addons/articles_slider/site.php on line 82: Undefined property: stdClass::$image_medium

Warning: Undefined property: stdClass::$image_small in /www/doc/www.dialog-komunistickylist-migrace.online/www/templates/shaper_gazette/sppagebuilder/addons/articles/site.php on line 199

So my point is: Is there only one option to upload/images to Gazette topic articles using the "Blog Media" tab? And then how is it possible that sample articles that were previously created by the authors of the theme itself have multiple different images inside? And finally, what image sizes should I use?

Thank you very much in advance!

R.K.

P.S.: And I should add that I've checked the Gazette template documentation before, but I didn't find anything about this...

Hi there!

Thanks for reaching out to us.

The featured image in the 'Blog Media' tab is the one that will appear as the thumbnail when you view this article in the category blog page with all other articles together.

Do you want to know about the images that are showing inside the article while you are viewing a single article detail page?

Then you can add image and other contents with the help of Joomla default editor or SPPB editor either. The following blog post might help you in this case:

Hi Rashida again!

We didnt understand to each other. Well, Im gonna try to explain whats my point again and with help of pictures (which they are very unconfortable to attache here, but never mind).

  1. I can in Gazette theme (maybe its the same for other themes either, I dont know) insert an image for an article to some cathegory by two options. One way is the "Images and Links" tab in admnistration.

Like that: ![https://ibb.co/3rRd054]

There are two sections: a) "Picture In The Editorial" which adds pictures to a particular cathegory list.

Like that: ![https://ibb.co/0DCFtnq]

b) "Picture In Article" which adds an image to the article itself.

Like that: ![https://ibb.co/4mkJnB4]

The error: Whichever of that sections I use, on my homepage appears these two or one (depending on I use one or both sections) error messages (see the picture below):

These errors causes absence of instructions in site.php file. It means (at least to my understanding), that authors of theme didnt meant users use this option in administration. Anyway its a glitch, which I need to remove.

  1. Well, there is a second way to add an image to article, which is "Media Blog" tab.

Like that: ![https://ibb.co/ZcxRbxD]

That option allows to upload only one (and no more!) image. It means, that there is only one image to cover two different sections: a cathegory list and an article itself. Each of them has (and should be have) its own different size with different aspect ratios. Not to mention that in newspapers you often need to have in one article two images with different content (like a context image and a concrete detail image). But the "Media Blog" offers to add only one image (or a Image Galery, but that´s whole different thing).

  1. SP Page Builder allows to insert some other images strait to the content of any article. Its great, but it in any way doesn´t solve the problem of listing cathegory and the detail image of an article.

The wrapup: I need to have more than one image to cover one article. How can I achive this regarding the option which are in Gazette v.2.0?
