Is there a way to display the Timeline addon in a horizontal format, similar to what is proposed by CommonNinja (https://www.commoninja.com/widgets/timeline/sp-page-builder/examples)?

There is no default option to achieve that. But you have rotate option to have it as follows: https://share.cleanshot.com/L65sj9Dv
I know they are not the same. But with existing settings this is what you can do with it.
