LOTS Of Spam On The Form Builder Again.

Last week, one of my clients had over 800 spam emails from their site. The host investigated the issue only to discover that the code is written in a way that they can hack it and it will deliver to ALL active email and not just the one listed on the builder. The client has their email with outlook and not on the server but because of the way cPanel is set up, there must be a default email address. That default email address received over 800 emails. I’ve deleted the SP form builder and added one that works with V3 Google captcha. Sp is a great product that will over time will be better with the fix of a few tweaks.

Hello Joe,

Thank you for sharing your concerns about the spam issue with the form builder. I am apologize for this. We understand how frustrating this must have been for both you and your client.

To mitigate spam effectively, we recommend integrating hCaptcha or invisible reCAPTCHA for enhanced security. These solutions are more robust against automated attacks and will significantly reduce spam submissions.

We’ve noted your feedback and will forward it to our development team to prioritize addressing this issue in future updates. If there are any additional suggestions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to share them with us.

Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to improve SP Page Builder.

Best regards,

I had also some websites with the same issue a few weeks back. Removed all forms from the websites. Gonna try one website with the cloudflare solution. Now I always ask if a contact form is really needed and if they need it I strongly advice to create a separate mailbox for the website submissions (website[at]domain.com) or something like that.

Spam is a global problem, even Goverment sites get it :/

Unfortunately, despite all these years, the problem is increasing and the parliament of the European Union is dealing with "bananas" and not this.

Read & Use: https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/sp-page-builder/configuring-cloudflare-turnstile-captcha

Of course, I suggest also some changes in .htaccess to reduce fake traffic.

Thank you Paul, all the best for you and your team in 2025.

You're right about spam, my point was I was told by my host who alerted me of the problem, that the code as it is written is a spam magnet.

Just thought you'd like to know.

Joe

Hosting company has a tools that may block some Spam at the top, before they will come to you.

Thank you for your good wishes, many cool things related to SPPB or EasyStore are planned this year.

My Contact form is not working with the Cloudflare turnstile option. It does not give the success or failure message when hitting the submit button. Here is the page:

Any ideas?

<<EDIT>>> I figured it out. I had to change my Joomla! mailer in Server settings to PHP Mail. I had it on SMTP and it must have not liked that.
