Major Site Crash After U/g Of SPPB To Version 5.5.2

Seen this several times now and each time you guys fix it and fail to tell me what you do to fix it so I'll try again.

Website running SPPBPro 3.8.10 reports I can upgrade to 5.5.2. In the past, the upgrade option has failed and left the site absolutely broken, so this time I manually installed 5.5.2 to again crash the site.

Control Panel error:

JInstaller: :Install: Error SQL Duplicate column name 'catid' Extension installation stopped. Error installing component

After failed update from 3.8.10 to 5.5.2 the front end reports:

Failed opening required '/home/[accountname]/public_html/components/com_sppagebuilder/builder/classes/base.php' (include_path='.:/opt/cpanel/ea-php82/root/usr/share/pear')

A point of note is that this doesn;t happen on all upgrades but 2 or 3 updates have recently killed the sites in question.

In hidden details I give a link to a broken, upgraded 5.5.2 site (in a subfolder off the manually restored 3.8.10 site which is fine now).

Please can you :

  1. Indentify on this broken site what is wrong?
  2. Fix it?
  3. Tell me how you fix it so I can fix it myself next time.?

Yes you fixed it.

Now, can you confirm what I was doing wrong and exactly what you had to do to fix it?

There were missing folders during installation (component/com_sppagebuilder/Builder and administrator/component/com_sppagebuilder/editor). First, I replaced them using Phoca Commander, then uninstalled Page Builder and reinstalled it.

I can see you installed Phoca Commander but failed to uninstall it - thats poor.

Secondly, you're making life difficult for me here - I guess I will have to figure out exactly what black magic tricks you performed...

I can see the /builder folder contains v

and I see /editor contains

/traits /helpers /data

if this happens again (I guess it will) then I have copied backup of the above folders and their contents and can upload them if I have to.

Ultimately though, this is clearly a BUG and I presume will you be fixing this in 5.5.3 so that if the folders and their contents are not there, then the 5.5.3 update will add them in?

Did you try to rollback previous version when installation failed?

Yes - that failed too.

Okay. We will investigate it on our end if it occurred, and then we will fix it.
