I have noticed that in this case the login page that appear before allowing me to edit a page using the Frontpage Editor does not allow me to use the Joomla credentials that work with other pages. So I am forced to use the Backend Editor and then I receive a 403 error message when I try to save the changes.

Hello Alejandro,

Thank you for reaching out. The 403 error when using the SP Page Builder Frontend Editor is usually caused by permission settings, security restrictions, or SEF URL issues. Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check User Permissions: • Go to System > Global Configuration > SP Page Builder > Permissions and ensure your user group has ā€œEditā€ and ā€œEdit Stateā€ permissions. • Also, check Users > Manage to confirm your account has the correct access level (e.g., ā€œSuper Userā€ or an editing role).
  2. Review SEF URL & .htaccess Settings: • Go to Global Configuration > Site > SEO Settings and temporarily disable ā€œUse URL Rewriting.ā€ • Rename .htaccess to htaccess_backup and test if the issue persists.
  3. Check Security Extensions & ModSecurity: • If you’re using security plugins (e.g., Admin Tools, RSFirewall!), try disabling them temporarily. • If your web host has ModSecurity enabled, check the server logs and whitelist any blocked requests.
  4. Clear Cache & Test Again: • Clear Joomla cache under System > Clear Cache. • Try logging in via incognito mode or a different browser.

If the issue persists, please let us know your Joomla version, SP Page Builder version, and any error log details. We’ll be happy to assist further.

Best regards,

I managed to login into the Frontend Editor page after deleting the htaccess file but it seems like is not saving the changes made on this page as the blue wheel on the top right corner never stops.

I am currently running Joomla 5.2.5 and sp Page Builder version 5.5.3

The 403 error message remains despite the upgrade of SPPB to 5.5.4 and I have confirmed that Akeeba backup is not present, so I was wondering if the problem cause may be the fact that those pages were created with 3.6.x version of SPPB as I also cleared the Joomla site cache

Hello again, I am trying a workaround copying the elements "one by one" from the old page to a blank one using the backend editor and saving the new version works fine until I try to save raw html elements even small ones trigger a 403 error message. So I am now trying to create them again using SPPB elements.

I having the same problem with another page. It is annoying having to remake it again because sometimes I need to add some custom CSS codes in order to keep the original appearance.
