You need to use an image for the events. Without the image, this error will occur. I have added an image to your SP LMS -> Events and now it is working.

I just checked. It is showing on the main training page. But when I click on the item I get 404 not found COM_SPLMS_ERROR_ITEM_NOT_FOUND

Is there another step I am missing? Should it go to an event page?

I thought maybe I needed a menu of the training classes. So I created a separate menu "Training Classes", but it is not following the template style. The heading isn't looking like all the site headings. Is there a css for LMS that is overriding my default template css?
