Helix Framework 5 months ago

Hi, Existing and working site with Joomla 4.4.13. I want to upgrade to J5.3. After update site is broken. The notification is; The server returned a "500 - Whoops, looks like something went wrong." Before upgrade i updated first Shaper Helix3 template and Shaper Framework from 3.0.3 to latest 3.0.5. Also SP Page Buider to latest 5.6.0. PHP is 8.3.2. Other extensions are up-to date. Database is okay. I don't understand, search on internet but cannot find a solution. I placed back the backup. Credentials in hidden content. Thanks in forward. Regards, Grafiek

This is an internal server error, which can be caused by several factors:

  1. Incompatible PHP version — Joomla 5 may require a newer version than what’s currently installed.
  2. Improper setup during the installation or update process.
  3. Missing or incompatible extensions, plugins, or templates that aren’t compatible with Joomla 5.
  4. Server configuration issues (e.g., missing PHP modules, file permissions, etc.).

Thanks

You can hire somebody who can do that upgrade process instead of you. JoomShaper Support is not for Joomla upgrade//update support. Sometimes it's caused a single plugin, sometimes by Joomla problems itself, many things can go wrong. Nobody said that webmaster life is easy.

Hi Ziaul and Paul, I thought it's a sp page builder and/or helix issue, therefore i ask. But... It is succeeded. What i have done. PHP/DB/Helix/SPPB were all up to date. I deinstal all extensions (There were only AdminTools/Akeeba Backup/Regular Labs(3)). And then upgrade to 5.3.1. That works. After that installed that extensions again. Everything works fine. In any case thanks.

You're welcome.

Less extensions = less problems.

For Joomla there are tools like JCH Optimize and similar that can speed up the site.

In general it request many small changes/steps to speed up site, at least 1h. In most cases it takes between 2-3h.

And yes, hosting speed is also important aspect. For example last week I've seen site hosted on Swiss Hosting Company ( I don't remember name) that worked crazy fast (in both admin and front-end)
