I guess you thought about field where you can add path to music file that will be used as audio player from HTML5, am I right?

Sort of

Yes that's the kind of thing I'm after. However, when I tried putting this code into a rich text field it just stripped out the audio code. And just putting a link to the audio file in the rich text field yields a clickable link on the details page that opens up the audio player, but it is on a new page that is completely black and cannot be styled. That's why a dedicated audio field is what is needed, similar to the one for videos.

Good thinking, that would give us the best of both options. I look forward to seeing it being added in the near future! I could probably achieve something workable using Joomla custom fields, but I would rather be able to do it directly using SPPB.
