Request Failed With Status Code 500

SP Page Builder 3 months ago

Hi JoomShaper Support,

I’m currently using SP Page Builder Pro on my Joomla site, and I’ve encountered an issue when trying to access the “Page Layouts” section. Every time I click the button, I get the following error: “Request failed with status code 500” Here’s what I’ve already tried:

  • Cleared Joomla and browser cache
  • Enabled debug mode and set error reporting to “Maximum”
  • Checked for potential missing columns in the database (specifically content in the sppagebuilder table)
  • Reinstalled SP Page Builder Pro manually
  • Disabled older or conflicting modules from previous versions
  • Verified PHP version compatibility and reviewed server settings Unfortunately, the error persists. Could you please assist in identifying the root cause or suggest further troubleshooting steps? Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards, Eric

Hello Rashida,

Im sorry I had not a lot of time to check. But the issue is not solved yet. I also saw that no one of your team logged in to the admin after I gave access. I enjoy Page Builder but this issue is a bit enoying.

Best regards,

Eric

No I did send the credentials to [email protected] on 7/16/2025. I see now that there is a hidden content, so I posted it again.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the access. I tried to find out the issue, but it seems not a super user. I need a super user to check it throroughly. Can you give me one?

Hi Eric,

Pleae take my apology.

I have checked your backend and you are using PHP 8.4 there. Is it possible for you to downgrade to PHP 8.3 or PHP 8.2 to see if it helps? PHP 8.4 is not tested with our products yet, sorry about that.

Moreover, please make sure you are using the correct and active license key there along with your JoomShaper associated email address.

Best regards,

Hello Rashida,

Sorry I took a while to react. First of all thanks a lot for your support.

I downgraded to PHP 8.2, but I have still the same issue. Also I double checked my active license and this seems to be correct.

I have currently 38 Days Remaining on my license which I wish to renew, but I want first this issue solved as this is an important function for me. The Joomshaper superuser is still available for you to test.

Best regards,

Eric

Hi Eric,

Thanks for this.

However, I have tried to take a backup and on my local importing layouts are working just fine. Then I have tried at your site and it is also working fine there too. Did you check? Your issue seems solved already!

Hello Rashida,

Yes you are correct, I solved the issue myself. I didnt had to do with your software, but with the PHP.ini settings, sorry for that.

The solution was the following, maybe it would be for other users with the same issue also the solution:

  • Confirm that the PHP cURL extension is installed and enabled for the PHP version my site is using.
  • Ensure cURL is compiled with HTTPS support (OpenSSL) and that https is listed under cURL protocols.
  • Verify that outbound HTTPS connections to update.joomla.org on port 443 are allowed from the server.
  • Confirm that the OpenSSL library is up to date (TLS 1.2+).

I found the solution when I wanted to support the native Joomla multi language possibilities and adding the additional language didnt work.

I thank you for all the time and good support you spent on this issue. And for sure I will renew my license.

Best regards,

Eric

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the detailed response:)

Our technical requirements mentioned about cURL though:

https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/sp-page-builder/technical-requirements

However, glad that all sorted now. You may accept an answer in order to close the post.

Wish you good luck!
