I am looking for some advice and guidance. I will try to be as clear as possible in what I say, but if something needs more clarification, please let me know.
My website was down the other day. I found that the issue was only on the homepage and being caused by a module that was on there (still havn't fixed the source of the issue, I only know which module caused the page crash). So I went ahead and created a temporary homepage using the SP Pagebuilder in Components section. This made me discover many things, and debate what would be better, which lead me to wanting to make this post for a discussion.
Things I notice with SP PageBuilder:
The temporary homepage I made ended up with double the traffic of our average on the regular homepage
The page loading time was a fraction of what it normally is
Creating the page with the identical items as the regular homepage was done in a fraction of the time.
I made a post in here in the past in regards to PageBuilder in component versus using it within Joomla Articles. I feel as if the component version is better and more visible and removes some of the "overhead" added on when combining the 2. This could be the reason that the traffic always seems higher on pages I build in the component section. I feel that they become more visible in search engines.
As powerful of a tool as Joomla is, I find that is it quite bloated before anything is even added to it. Then you find a template designed in a way that you say "Ohh wow, this is amazing, this is just what I need." However, it is not actually functional in the way you would need. You either load the sample data and try to replicate what was made and add functionality to it, or you just get the files and try to follow the documentation to recreate it. Companies like JoomShaper and others, put so much work and effort into building these. The reality is though, I feel as if I only utlize about 5% of what was created in my finished product.
I want to eliminate any template all together. I want to simply make some layouts for the different page types. I know I can easily utilize PageBuilder to achieve this. However, there are some things I would like to do, but not sure if or how they would be possible.
What I want to do:
I would like to create a blog layout, and use a custom Dynamic Content form for the content.
Question or issue:
One of the blogs is a listing of events, some weeks there are more events listed as others. Is there a way to create a "repeater field" like a "+" that replicates a section of fields to add another entry?
What I want to do:
I would like to make some of these forms available on the front end for users and customers.
Question or issue:
Is there a way to let users fill in forms to submit data to dynamic content, and can I set this to be approved before pubishing?
What I want to do:
I wish to create 3 ore more Dynamic Content Types. One of the content types will be for Events. I am hoping some features can be brought to make this happen with a single company, JoomShaper would be perfect as you develope great tools that reduce my production time and that I enjoy using. However, at this time, there is no solution, so I have to see if there is a way I can integrate certain things.
Question or issue:
Can I have the form submission from Dynamic Content in SP PageBuilder submit the data to the relating DB tables within EventsBooking. I want to easily make template layouts for Events and be able to update them without the million step process of creating custom layouts and adding them to a software. I do not want to have to submit the data twice. The second part of this, if Possible. The register button, I would need this button to be generated by with the alias created from the event creation within Events Booking so that when people click the Buy Now, it loads to the Event Booking registration page for that event. This is because PageBuilder does not have such features, or any other plugins to my knowledge that can process payment and create a QR code ticket that is scanable for check in.
What I want to do:
The other hurdle I wish to solve is a simple "Latest" module. I do not want to have to manually update the homepage with upcoming events this week, weekend, month.... or the latest blog entry.
Question or issue:
Can this be solved with a layout type in Dynamic Content? I am trying to have as much automated as possible without having to update multiple pages. The problem on the homepage now is that I have Pages done in Joomla Component using PB for the added SEO visibility I find I get, the blog pages are done using PB through Joomla articles, and then Events Booking is using it's own modules for display. This is a LOT of code and a LOT of modules to be able to have the displays the way I need it. I feel as if this could be minimized greatly.
PLEASE HELP! and Thank You in advance for your time and feedback.
