We have to create a gallery containing about 250 pictures. Is there a way to name a folder containing all pictures and thumbnails and a gallery will be created automatically instead of having to enter 250 single pictures.

Gallery addon (SPPB) has option to import list of images, but indeed for 250 photos, I suggest using gallery extension from JED.

For example check popular: SigPlus or JoomGallery or Phoca Gallery (all works in J5)
