Experiences With Migration To Joomla 5.0 (Helix Ultimate & SP Page Builder)

Hello everyone,

I'm currently faced with the task of migrating my Joomla installation to version 5.0. My system is currently running Joomla 4.4.14. I have JoomShaper Helix Ultimate 2.2.1 and JoomShaper SP Page Builder 6.1.0 installed.

According to the Joomla Migration Assistant, these components are currently not fully compatible with Joomla 5.0. Since my website is operated for a company, I can't afford any downtime or malfunctions after the migration.

So, my question to everyone: Have any of you already had experience with migration under these conditions? I would be very grateful if you could briefly describe how the transition went for you and whether there are any points I should pay particular attention to.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Best regards, Nico

Hi Nico,

that question return on the forum, and answer is this the same, ignore Joomla Message, and upgrade Joomla.

Joomla 4 to Joomla 5 is not a migration, rather upgrade. Migration was J1.5 > J3 > J4, becuase of huge changes in CMS code.

If you're afraid, that's normal (and actually a good sign). Create a clone of your website on a test subdomain and try it there first. I know it's an extra 30 minutes of work, but you'll feel much calmer afterward.

About Joomla 6.0.0 - Helix Template and SPPB 6.1.0 will work, but using version 6.0.0 on production/company site, in my personal opinion, is not the best idea.

THINK, how many versions of Joomla 5.x we have so far? I am more then sure that you can wait for Joomla 6.0.1 / 6.0.2 at least.

I hope I helped.
