When You Change The Name Of A Template Or Make A COPY, It Sits As A Standalone Template Which Will Never Get Updated.

Hi,

So i made a copy of shaper helixultimate inside joomla , renamed it to COPY and have it running as an additional template for certain sections of the website.

This now never gets any updates because only the original shaper_helixultimate gets them.

Do i manually have to download shaper_helixultimate , rename the files and template to COPY, zip it back up and then install it. Will this then update/over write my COPY?

Is this the only way to update copies?

Thank you for reaching out to our technical support forum. I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing.

I have got your issues. Generally, if you completely rename the temlate, then it does not get updates as Helix Ultimate. The template becomes a standalone template.

Your idea is correct. Rename the template before installation and then install it. Then it will apply on your renamed template.

Yes, if you decided to rename template, you have full control over updates, and you have to do them manually, ones or twice a year, not a big deal.
