Cannot Add License Key Or Google Fonts API To Pagebuilder

SP Page Builder 1 month ago

On older sites that have been upgraded from 4 to 5, to 6 etc. SP Page Builder does not allow me to enter License Key or Google Fonts API. Is there a work around for this - or some way to force adding this info? I have about 60 sites where I had to generate a new Google Fonts API Key and I can't update it,

Thanks,

Syd

Thanks for the update.

I’ve taken a backup of your site and tested it on my local PC — everything works fine with the same setup. The issue only occurs on your live site when trying to save, where the following URL shows a 404 error:

administrator/index.php?option=com_sppagebuilder&task=/editor.applicationSettings

This is usually caused by server-level security rules. I recommend checking with your hosting provider and asking them to review ModSecurity or firewall logs for blocked requests related to SP Page Builder. Temporarily disabling ModSecurity or whitelisting this request usually resolves the issue.

Please let me know the outcome.

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Could you please share temporary administrator access to your Joomla backend? You can provide the credentials securely in the hidden content section. Also, please take a full backup of your site before we make any changes.

Once I have access, I’ll investigate further and see what’s causing the issue. Let me know once you’ve shared the details!

Best regards,

I have many sites that throw the error: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/a7iavtzcaw6f92zqep4p0/AN3kPQ1LN3Zdbxh6QV99v98?rlkey=qnhoimxsrnl68ygkgm2xjhl8h&st=7d2v58aj&dl=0

Just need a fix - giving you admin access won't help anything,

Thanks,

Syd

  1. Make sure that you updated SPPB to PRO, not Lite version.
  2. Clear Joomla and Browser cache.

Hey Paul,

Yes - I did clear browser cache and Joomla cache etc. still getting an error message - you can see it here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/a7iavtzcaw6f92zqep4p0/AN3kPQ1LN3Zdbxh6QV99v98?rlkey=qnhoimxsrnl68ygkgm2xjhl8h&st=7d2v58aj&dl=0

Like I said - many sites do this. Hopefully you have a fix for it.

Thanks,

Syd

Is this situation solved?

I have the error:

Invalid API Key Requests from referer <empty> are blocked.

To integrate Google Fonts, follow these steps:

Visit developers.google.com/fonts/docs/developer_api
Scroll down and locate the "Get a Key" section.
Click on the "Get a Key" button and provide a name for your project.
Proceed to the next step and your API key will be generated.
Click on "Show Key" and copy the generated API key.
Go to the SP Page Builder dashboard and navigate to "Settings > Options > Advanced".
Locate the "Google Fonts API key" field and paste the copied API key.
Save the changes to apply the Google Fonts integration.

I have this API key for 2 API: Fonts and Maps.

Google map works fine with API key. To get the fonts I had to remove restrictions on Google Console. Chose the fonts I need for the website, then restrict key again. The error comes back.

This is new, I'm restricting the key (I repeat, it's same key for Maps and Fonts) with https://*.domain.tld/ and https://www.domain.tld/

This is happening on latest SP PB Pro.

I have other sites on previous versions of SP PB that are working fine (same key).
