Tag-Based Filtering For EasyStore Products In SP Page Builder

Hi JoomShaper Support,

I’m using SP Page Builder Pro with EasyStore and have a limitation I hope you can advise on.

  • All products are in a single category “Footwear”. Please note there is a good reason for using only one Category: in EasyStore, Category and Product are essentially one-to-one, which does not work for our setup.
  • I use tags to differentiate product types, sub-types, seasons, and other attributes.
  • SP Page Builder Product List addon only filters by Collection, and EasyStore menu items also only filter by Category or Collection. Tags cannot currently be used for front-end filtering.

I have already restructured the data from collections to a single category plus tags and prefer not to revert.

Question:

Is there a workaround to display products by tags in SP Page Builder, or could tag-based filtering be considered for a future update?

Thanks for your guidance!

Best regards, Bruce

Hi Bruce,

Thank you for reaching out and for the detailed explanation of your setup — that really helps.

Currently, EasyStore does support tag-based filtering, and users can configure their store filters to use tags on the frontend. However, in SP Page Builder, when using the Product List addon as a product source, there isn’t an option to select or filter products directly by tags. At the moment, it only supports sources like Collection, Latest, and others.

So while visitors can still use tag-based filtering if it’s set up in your store, selecting products by tags specifically within the SP Page Builder addon is not yet available.

Thank you again for your suggestion and understanding.

Best regards,

Thanks for the clarification — that makes sense.

In our case, we’re using SP Page Builder to create curated product pages (e.g. by type or use case), so the ability to select products by tags within the Product List addon would be extremely helpful.

We’ll work with collections as a workaround for now, but I’d definitely like to register this as a feature request if possible.

I have noticed that I am not alone requesting more filtering options and look forward to future enhancements.

Thanks again for your help.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. As a product source, normally Category or Tags are not meant for selection—they are primarily used for filtering, browsing, or organizing products, rather than as a source for products.

Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks again for your clarification. I understand the technical design of the Product List addon.

I also wanted to note that while EasyStore documentation highlights tags as a way to “label and categorize your products” and make them “easily discoverable,” it doesn’t make clear that SP Page Builder’s Product List addon cannot use tags as a product source. This distinction is what creates the practical challenge for curated pages like ours.

I mention this to provide context for our workflow: we rely on presenting products grouped by tags, so the current limitation affects how we can structure pages. Any guidance on workarounds or future feature consideration would be much appreciated.

Thanks again for your time,

Bruce

Hello Bruce,

Thank you for the detailed clarification — your use case makes perfect sense, especially from a content curation perspective.

You are absolutely right that tags are often used in eCommerce to group and present products dynamically, and your workflow is a valid approach.

At the moment, in SP Page Builder, the Product List addon is designed to use structured sources like Collections or predefined queries. Tags in EasyStore are currently intended for filtering and discovery rather than acting as a direct product source within the addon.

We understand how this creates a limitation for setups like yours where tags are central to organizing products. I will definitely pass this along to our development team as a feature request, as tag-based sourcing would be a valuable enhancement.

In the meantime, Please, keep using collection based sourcing.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback.

Best regards,

Hi Ziaul,

Thank you for expressing full understanding of the situation and for passing on details to your development team. I really appreciate it and am certain that others will too.

In the meantime, I will work as best I can with the available features. The collections based sourcing is the most viable work-around.

All the best.
