Page Got Overwritten By Another SP Page, When

Hello dear support team,

I am working on our website using SP Page Builder. Today, I made several corrections on the homepage, saving and reviewing the changes multiple times without closing the page in between.

At some point, I decided to undo these changes because they did not produce the desired effect. I used the backward arrows in SP Page Builder, which allow you to revert changes step by step. After going back several steps, I saved the page and wanted to check this intermediate state on the frontend to see which version I was currently at.

However, I suddenly noticed that a completely different SP Page had been set as the homepage. When I returned to the editing view in SP Page Builder, I saw that my original homepage sections and content blocks had been completely overwritten with those of another SP Page

Hello,

Thank you for the detailed explanation, and sorry to hear about this experience.

What you described is definitely not expected behavior. Using the undo (history) option in SP Page Builder should only revert changes within the same page and should not replace the content with another page.

This may have occurred due to:

  • A temporary editor/state sync issue

  • Browser/session caching problem

  • Or an unintended conflict while using the undo history

    What you can do now

  • Check if the original content is still available under:

    • SP Page Builder → Pages → Show Version History
  • If you have a backup (server/Joomla), you may restore the affected page from there

  • Avoid using multiple undo steps followed by save without refreshing the editor

    Recommendation

For now, we suggest:

  • Saving frequently using “Save as Copy” when making major changes
  • Refreshing the editor occasionally during long editing sessions

We will forward this issue to the development team for further investigation, as this should not happen under normal conditions.

If possible, please let us know:

  • SP Page Builder version
  • Joomla version
  • Whether this can be reproduced again

This will help us identify the root cause more precisely.

Best regards,

Pagebuilder Version:6.2.3 Joomla Version 6.0.2

I really dont now, how I could exactly reproduce this. it was soooo random.

This is so much pain in the ass because the home page was a lot of content and responsive optimizing.

As first setback didnt solve the problem, I tried on a backup a couple of days earlier - same problem. sp page of home has the content sections of another one. how is that possible? I set back to a version, where everything was right at state of page contents...

Hello there!

This should not have happened, and I have not encountered this issue before.

We are talking about these options, right? https://cleanshot.com/share/wwr2zQLK

Even if I access your backend now, it would not be possible to identify or recover the previous version of your content from there.

Could you please confirm whether your admin access is shared with anyone else? It’s possible that someone may have modified the page at the same time. Additionally, actions such as using the import/export feature could also lead to content being replaced.

I would also recommend checking the Joomla Action Logs (User Actions Log) to monitor recent backend activities and see if any changes were made to the page or content.

Best regards,

Yeah, its about these arrows for back and forth! I´m the only admin of this page. No one else is editing. I was not using import / export features.

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.

At the moment, I'm not sure what else could be causing the issue, as I have already mentioned all the possible reasons that come to mind.

Could you please let us know whether this happened only once or if it has occurred multiple times?

Best regards,
