Website Pages "pulsing" After Helix Ultimate Update

Hi,

I applied the Security Update for Helix Ultimate last week. The Framework and Template are now version 2.2.8 on my two Joomla 6.1.2 websites, and one Joomla 5.4.7 website.

After applying the website, I noticed the pages were "pulsing" on all three websites. The page displays, then dims slightly and displays again, so it looks like a single "pulse" or refresh.

I'm using JCH Optimize, but I disabled the cacheing and the pages still "pulse".

I've confirmed the effect on my Chrome and Mozilla browsers on Windows 11. Other Joomla Australia colleagues have also confirmed the "pulsing" on their various browsers and operating systems.

The websites weren't "pulsing" before last week's update, so I hope it's something simple to fix. I've provided login credentials for one of my Joomla 6 websites to help you identify the problem.

Regards, Robert

Hi Robert,

Thank you for providing the website access.

I can see the pulsing issue on your website. To investigate it properly, could you please create an Akeeba Backup in ZIP format (not JPA) and share it with me?

Unfortunately, your hosting environment is preventing me from performing the necessary debugging, so having a local copy of your website will allow me to reproduce the issue and investigate it thoroughly.

Once the backup is ready, please upload the ZIP file to a file-sharing service such as Google Drive and share the download link with me.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Best Regards,

Hi Ziaul,

Thanks for your prompt response. I've shared a Google Drive link to the Akeeba Backup Zip file for the website (I sent it last night, but not as a reply!).

A Joomla Australia colleage and fellow Helix Ultimate Framework user mentioned that posts in the JoomShaper Forums suggested Helix Ultimate v2.2.9 will be released within the next day or so. I wonder if this will fix the "pulse" problem?

Thanks again for looking into this for me.

Regards, Robert

PS. A little feedback on further testing: the "pulsing" problem does not occur when displaying an article (as a menu-item or from a category blog listing), even a multi-page article. It only seems to occur on the featured articles home page and on category blog menu items where there are multiple pages of articles.

For instance, on my Joomla 5 website, Tall And True, under the Blog menu item, 2026 Posts (which lists only one page of articles) does not "pulse": https://www.tallandtrue.com.au/blog/2026-posts

But All Posts and 2025, 2024 etc (where there are multiple pages of articles) do "pulse": https://www.tallandtrue.com.au/blog/2025-posts

It's the same with the Joomla 6 website I zipped for you, Tall And True Short Reads. Under Episodes, Season Five doesn't "pulse": https://www.tallandtrueshortreads.com/episodes/season-five/

But All Episodes and Season Four etc do "pulse": https://www.tallandtrueshortreads.com/episodes/season-four/

I hope this helps.

Regards, Robert

Please try uninstalling JCH Optimize, then clear your cache and test the site again using your browser's Incognito/Private mode.

I tested your site on my local environment. After uninstalling JCH Optimize, I no longer see the pulsing issue.

Thanks.

Apologies, Ziaul. As I mentioned when posting this, I disabled JCH Optimize (the plug-in and page cache) and the website pages still "pulsed". While I'd cleared the cache on the website, I didn't clear my browser cache or test it using Incognito/Private mode.

I am very grateful for the time you spent investigating the problem for me. I can confirm that the website was still "pulsing" with your Helix Ultimate 2.2.9 plug-in and template. But the "pulsing" stopped once I disabled JCH Optimize, cleared the cached, and viewed the website using Incognito/Private mode.

I will follow up this problem with JCH Optimize. And once again, thank you for your support. 🙏

Regards, Robert
