Dynamic Filter Based On Multi-Ref

Hi,

is it possible to build a dynamic filter based on a multi reference in a collection?

I want to build the following:

A software title (collection 1) is linked to multiple compters (collection 2). Ther eis also a "back-link", the computer is linked to the software title, also as a multi reference.

Now I want to create a dynamic filter "Show all software titles linked to computer 'xyz'" on the index page of the "Software"-collection. Also the filter should summarize identical entires in the collection to one entry in the dropdown (e.g. I have 5 "C64", this should only appear once in the filter-dropdown).

Is this possible to create without defining "helper-entries" in the collection?

Best wishes

Hello,

Thank you for the detailed explanation.

Yes, what you are trying to achieve is possible. You can create a dynamic filter based on the multi-reference relationship between the Software and Computer collections, allowing users to select a computer (e.g., C64) and display only the software titles associated with it.

It is also possible to configure the filter so that identical computer entries are grouped and displayed only once in the dropdown, rather than showing the same computer multiple times.

Therefore, you should not need to create additional helper entries in the collection just for this purpose.

Best regards

Hi, I tried to create a filter based on a multiref.

The dropdown shows all the computer types correctly, but the filter does not "filter" anything, it shows all entries, not just those that where associatet by the multiref:

I used the following settings for the filter ("Kompatible Computer" is the multiref):
