Error 1015 – “You are Being Rate Limited”

Hi,

I have been a paying JoomShaper Developer user for more than ten years, and today I apparently managed to get myself temporarily banned from demo3.joomshaper.com (and all joomshaper.com).

What was I doing? Scraping your website? Running automated requests? Trying to overload your servers?

No. I was browsing your templates.

I was simply opening and comparing template demos – which I would assume is a fairly normal activity for a paying Developer customer trying to decide which of your products to use.

Instead, Cloudflare greeted me with Error 1015 – “You are being rate limited”, informing me that “the owner of this website has banned you temporarily from accessing this website.”

I have to say, after paying for JoomShaper services for over a decade, being banned for looking at too many of the templates (about 7-10) I’m paying to have access to is a rather impressive customer experience.

If normal browsing of your template demos is enough to trigger your rate limiting, I would strongly suggest reviewing those limits. A Developer user is naturally going to open multiple templates, switch between demos and compare layouts. That is not abuse – that is literally what the demo site is there for.

For reference:

Cloudflare Error: 1015 Ray ID: a339ed2a89dfae05 Time: 2026-08-31 06:19:55 UTC

I would appreciate it if you could check why this happened and make sure legitimate customers are not being blocked simply for using the service as intended.

Best regards, Andreas

Hi Andreas,

Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience and frustration this has caused. We completely understand your concern, especially as you were simply browsing and comparing our template demos as a long-time JoomShaper customer.

We currently have rate limiting and security protections enabled on our website due to periods of heavy traffic. In some cases, Cloudflare may mistakenly flag normal browsing activity when multiple demo sites are accessed within a short period of time.

Please try accessing the demos again after some time. If you continue to experience the issue, you can also try using a different network or a VPN, which may help if your current IP address is temporarily being rate limited.

We really appreciate your patience and your long-time support of JoomShaper. We'll also keep an eye on the rate-limiting rules to help prevent legitimate customers from being blocked while browsing our demos.

Best regards,

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

Since I included the exact timestamp and Cloudflare Ray ID in my original message, would it be possible for you to check the Cloudflare logs and identify which specific rate-limiting rule was triggered?

Ray ID: a339ed2a89dfae05 Time: 2026-08-31 06:19:55 UTC

I'm mainly interested in understanding what caused normal browsing of approximately 7–10 template demos to trigger the limit. Switching networks or using a VPN would work around the symptom, but it doesn't really address the underlying issue.

If this is reproducible for normal Developer-user browsing, it would seem more useful to adjust the relevant rate-limiting rule rather than have customers change IP addresses.

Best regards, Andreas
