Can't upgrade to Joomla 6 because of JText issue.

Asked by GarageCentraal 3 days ago Last activity 2 days ago

I want to update to Joomla 6. However, when I disable Backward Compatibility as required to update, the pages inmediately go into error state. I am using the most up to date version of Page Builder, and my Apache server is running on PHP 8.4.21, MySQLi 8.4.7.

I contacted my hosting support and they indicated an issue with the Blockquote from the extension being from an older build using JText (even tho I do not use the Blockquote element in any of my pages), so I did an extension install directly from zip file, but it seems the issue still persist.

I included screenshot of the site screen msg after disabling.

Please advice.

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this oversight. Make sure this plugin is enabled in your Joomla 6 site Behaviour - Backward Compatibility 6. Before updating, please disable the Behaviour - Backward Compatibility of Joomla 5.

Best regards,

I did leave Backward Compatibility 6 enabled and disabled Backward Compatibility. That is when the error message showed up, so I did not proceed with the update.
Please advice.

Will you please login details of your site to check the issue?

GarageCentraal Asked this

If that server login, it was disabled upon advice from our hosting to facilitate transition to Joomla 6, so is no longer necessary. The credentials for Joomla were provided on the first message (credentials which by the way when created way back then was done with your email, Toufiq).

It doesn't work

Apologies. Old password provided.
Here the new one

That is a server-level login credentials specific for the Administrator folder. Just for my own reference, should this login be disabled before proceeding with the Joomla 6 upgrade?

Hi,

Delete that addon (blockquote) folder; it's not supported anymore. That's why it cause problems.

Path you have in your screenshot.

The folder has been deleted, yet the error screen shows up the moment I disable the backwards compatibility plugin
