Further to a previous feature request I submitted, I would like to clarify the requirement and explain why I believe this would be a useful addition to EasyStore.
I am configuring EasyStore for a New Zealand footwear retailer using GoSweetSpot (GSS), a New Zealand courier platform which integrates with EasyStore to calculate shipping rates based on the customer's address and order details.
There are occasions when GSS cannot return a shipping rate. This might be due to an incorrect address, a destination requiring special shipping arrangements, or an order containing multiple items or parcels.
Currently, the customer may simply find that no shipping options are displayed, without any explanation of the problem or guidance on what to do next.
It would be extremely useful if store owners could configure messages to appear in relevant checkout situations. For example:
- No shipping rates available: Please check your delivery address or contact us for assistance.
- Multiple items in cart: Please contact us for a separate shipping quotation.
This need extends beyond shipping. Retailers may have various circumstances in which they need to communicate specific instructions to customers during checkout.
I should also mention that I previously attempted to address some of these requirements through a customisation involving shipping status. However, with the pace of EasyStore development, maintaining this customisation alongside successive releases has become unsustainable. Testing with EasyStore 3.11 also revealed that it could interfere with the normal display of shipping rates.
I have therefore abandoned the customisation and returned to the standard EasyStore functionality. This reinforces my view that customer communication of this kind would be better provided as a core EasyStore feature, rather than requiring individual store owners to develop and maintain their own solutions.
I appreciate that there may be different ways of implementing this. Even a relatively simple facility for displaying configurable messages in appropriate parts of the checkout process would be a valuable improvement.
Would JoomShaper consider including this functionality in a future EasyStore release?
