SP Page Builder 4 years ago

hey I ve read the pagebuilder help because off "How to... google font" and it doesnt work. And I think the how to tipp needs an update...

Hopefully you can help me: I copied the fonts in my font file I made an custom.css and copied the files content in it I closed the google fonts in template helix

my last line (in custom.css)sounds:

body,p,a, {font-family: 'Open Sans Condensed';}

h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6,div, {font-family: 'Advent Pro';}

.sppb-addon-title {font-family: 'Advent Pro';} .sppb-media-heading {font-family: 'Advent Pro';} .sppb-panel-titel {font-family: 'Advent Pro';} .sppb-addon-content {font-family: 'open-sans-condensed';} .sppb-addon {font-family: 'open-sans-condensed';} .sppb-blocknumber-text {font-family: 'open-sans-condensed';}

there must be the mistake (hopefully) because it doesnt work in some places it does and some it does not. The link shows you a pic and "the w" is one of the mistakes in the website. (open sans doesnt work)

best regards Claudia

Hi, This tip from guide (with video) was written by me, and helped many people before you. I still use this method as well.

In most cases problems were/are caused by "wrong" path to font file OR CSS compression.

My suggestion:

in custom.css file set full path to font files with full domain name (https) - it may help (!)

then clean CMS cache and disable compression for tests period.

Dear Paul, I've made it as you wrote - hoping that it works - but I always get these "googleapis.com" Code in my source (the the link at boottom) and I know from another pagebuilder-system which automaticly integrates the fonts to the server - that the code ist gone afterwards.

It's a bit frustrating for me because I do not know what I can do else.

One question: when I updatet helix I've got a second "template". I'm right that I have to chance this fonts-thing in my actual working template? (that is folium)

@Mehtaz Afsana Borsha thanks for help, but I want to use google fonts on my server | webseite directly. So its the wrong way.

ABout loaded Google Font(s) you have to check whole page - addon by addon - probably somewhere this font is set. PB doesn't load GF is nobody set them. You can easy check this, create a empty page with Text and image addon.

Notice! Remember to Purge CSS in SP Page Builder options (!) after changes --it's below Production Mode switcher.

Check also template options - typography settings - maybe you forgot to disable Google Fonts there.

Theoretically, it is possible to "cut off" google fonts - even if they were used, but it requires editing the component code.

About 2nd question.

You can use this same custom.css in both templates. Just make sure that they are in /css/ folder of every template folder. Or you can load custom.css from 1st template inside 2nd template. This is pretty easy task.

If you cannot find something - share access to admin area. I will try to help.

BTW

I ask out of curiosity.

You may have checked whether there were any court cases regarding the use of Google Fonts in the aspect DSGVO law. In my country, I have not reported on such cases. Yes, EU country as well.

thank you Paul for your help and any advice... I will check and implement all of them..

to explain: for me alone it would be my own risk.. but I have clients - and if one client come back to me with a lawer letter, because of the goolge fonts or google maps or youtube video (all of them transporting personal things to USA server) it would be very expensive for me (maybe I have to work on my contract ;)

But all I want is to feel safe...

thanks for your help, "If you cannot find something - share access to admin area. I will try to help." I will come back if I do not find out how it works finally.

best regards Claudia

ps. Your ask of curiosity: no one knows... but I do live fifty to fifty in a unsure statement: is it okay or not? I have read a lot about this, the simple answer to the whole mess is to include the google font on the web page and that will get rid of all the worries. I really like this article: https://www.dr-datenschutz.de/wie-google-fonts-dsgvo-konform-werden/

Danke, I will read.

Theoretical question - if we treat IP as a personal data, when you are in McDonald's or Office and use their free WiFi - where everyone has the same IP - are you a group or still a single person for dsgvo law?
