SP Page Builder 3 years ago

Hello, since SP Page Builder 3.8.x I have problems to change the background color of a row of a page. With version 2.x it was working fine. Open row option and select the TAB Style. Goto "Activate background Option/color" The clear of the browser cache will not help. Do you have any idea? Best Regards

Dear Paul, thank you for your detailed information. I did all your recommandation (1-3). There was no change in behaivor. But.... if I switch off the "Production Mode" it is working perfect. So I was reading more about the "Purge CSS option". There is one sentence which gives more details.

  • But, this may cause a delay in reflecting your latest page customizations on the live site - because the cached CSS file may still be in use.

This was exact the behaivor of my system. After a delay of minutes the page was correct. So could you give me a recommendation how to use this mode in an optimal way? May be it is the best solution to do the development without active Production Mode and switch this mode on later. Best Regards

Use this custom css

div#sppb-addon-1639581000983 {
    background-color: #f4f0ea;
    padding: 10px;
}

div#sppb-addon-1639581021615 {
    background-color: #f4f0ea;
    padding: 10px;
}

Note: Path towards custom CSS: Extensions>Templates>Styles> Click on your current default template name then choose Template Options. Then find custom CSS within the custom code.

Hello,

this is the wrong way to do it via css. It is not flexible and could be a lot of work. Time running Helix template 2.x together with SP Page Builder I was using the following way to do changes on rows. This way is still available but will not work. https://prnt.sc/23vg068 Select the Style TAB and change e.g. the background color. https://prnt.sc/23vg5iw After update to newest version this way will not work any longer. Best Regards

With the css solution you divided features of a row into two different modules and the naming in css is not clear to read so maintenance is very difficult. The function was befor change of the template version and SP Page Builder available. After update not any longer. I think an update of the real page is missing. Please discuss this problem with your collegues because to lose this function it is very bad. Best Regards

If I may...

Maybe it will be easier to choose bg for columns instead of addons than two box height will be always equel, like in my video guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acZCjxEB3K4

Hi Paul, To change the bg color of an Addon is working like expected. Same function was available for a row before. But ... to change the bg color of an Addon is not the function I am looking for. If you go to start page of https://bmtv.de you will see that I need to change the bg color of a row to separate different themes from eachother. This is not possible by changing bg color of an Addon. If you are using the Frontend Editor for changes of the row you can see that the change of bg color or other parameters) happens in preview but it is not to see on real page. I do not know why but the change comes up after a time (mins, hours, days why I do not know). It has something to do with the working together of SP Page Builder and the Helix template. Please do a test in your environment to see if it is a problem of my setup or a failure inside the new version. Best Regards

Yes, I tested on my site and worked in SPPB Pro 3.8.2 - I can change background color of each Row, and yes, those changes are used. Video evidence from today: https://youtu.be/WD6gRjc0sJQ

Remember that:

  1. if you CLONE Row it may clone it's ID as well, then you have to add custom, unqiue ID for it.
  2. JCH_Optimze cache must be disabled / cleaned after each major design change.
  3. If you have Production Mode enabled in SPPB - you have to click "Purche cache" after changes.

p.s.

Yes, I was also able to change BG color of addon and that change was saved and used. We didn't brake anything in that feature in last update. 1 euro bet?

I can test on your website using fresh page, as well. As I did on mine.
