Melvin Combines With Helix Ultimate?

Am I missing something? or just stupid?
I install the melvin template, and when i load the page its a mix of melvin and helix ultimate but mianly helix, even though melvin is set to default.

I started with helix ultimate quickstart pack, becuase thats what i normally use, But was liking the melvin template. So I installed it, set it to default, and when i load the page it has a mix of helix ultimate and melvin elements.
IE
melvin title melvin link colors helix ultimate default page Stuff Links all link to helix default demo links, not melvin. etc
