I have followed the prcoedure to install the instagram add on on page builder. I am at the stage where i have generated the token and i am on the insert & save page. However, i click on the button nothings happens. I can't seem to be able to paste this manually to SP page builder config page just under FACbook ID
and App secret.it looks like the boxes are greyed out...
any bright ideas ?

Make sure that you have SP Page Builder Pro installed.
In Lite version that feature may be disabled.
In case of , download and reinstall with sppb Pro 3.8.6.

I can send you a screen grab if you wish ..I tried this again today and when i click insert and save token nothing happens..i confirm that i have 3.8.6...could this be browser related ? i have chrome and safari installed on my mac...

Code seems to be OK, but you cannot save it or what exactly?
The insert and save button does not work it seems ..as it fails top copy anythjing in access token and instagram id..i cannot copy and paste it manually it seems..Do you have similar problem in other extensions?

No not all.. i have swicthed OS from Macos to windows and with chrome and edge still the same problem. Is there no way of forcing the token and id in the sppb component ?

If somehow you cannot save those values in SPPB Options, probably you have to add them inside database tables. If you used PHPMyAdmin before, I can show you where.
BTW
Do you have this problem on only one site or more sites, please check.

I have only this site ! I found that i had a problem with write issues at a server level but my host cured this for me. However, i repeated the same process for the token and it is still stuck. I have been in myphpadmin before i am no expert but i am sure i will be ok .

Using PhpMYAdmin - in table prefix_extensions - find "SP Page Builder"
click "Edit" - look at Params textarea
where I added/used "facebook-1" and "facebook-2" add your real FB keys. Then save changes
later you should be able to click green button "Generate Access Token"

i think we misunderstood eachother or i have not undesrtood..I had the Facebook id and facebook secret as my IMGUR screen shows (above) The problem is why i clicked "generate access token " a window popped up (facebook) where i had to log in ...It is when i clicked insert and save button that the data was not inserted...
anyway i did try waht you said (to be on the safe side) and now when i try to regenerat etoken i get the following error...Invalid app ID: The provided app ID does not look like a valid app ID.
which in my opinion makes sense...

Ok sorted it out i just filled in the next fields in the php DATABASE in the IG id and access token..
