Use SP PAGE BUILDER To Build Page OR Just Joomla 4 But Not BOTH?

SP Page Builder 3 years ago

I read somewhere to use one or the other to build a page but not both...I can't find the post. Am I recalling this correctly?

If true, should I also avoid building a Joomla page and adding a module that is pulling an SP Page saved ROW?

Please clarify as I want to be sure I'm not going to inherit problems using SP Page Builder.

Lo

PS - I'm using Joomla 4.1.5 and Shaper HelixUltimate 2.0.10.

Oh, OK - good to know that we both using Joomla for so long. Probably longer than most users here on the forum.

ad 1) If you would decide to use SPPB integration inside Articles - in theory you can use both, but SPPB should be displayed in a single article view and from classic editor Intro text will be taken - useful in Blog view.

ad 2) Yes, SPPB modules works in this same way as other modules so they can be used in Articles. They can be used also inside Pages (SPPB) and Articles with SPPB mode because it has a module addon.

And yes, you can use SPPB module in your Template positions, for example, content-top and cotent-bottom if we talk about Helix Ultimate.

Anyway, I suggest to play on test subdomain with SPPB 3.8.x (!) what you can or you cannot do with it.

So am I and I tried to switch from Joomla Editor to SP Page Builder. I have the same versions as you and i've cut my own question to support on this. I note an import function and think the Joomla Editor page if it was exportable in JSON could be imported into SP Page Builder as a custom page. I have an open question on this just now.

Hi Loida,

Sp Page Builder is a component with module. It may help to build you nice looking subpages very fast.

But the main question is what kind of site you're building?

Joomla you have to use anyway, it's a CMS. From Joomla core you have Articles and modules (built-in).

Besides you can use SPPB only for selected subpages (home, about, contact) you don't have to use it on all subpages. On rest of subpages you can use classic structure like Articles, and modules.

If you would use JCE Editor inside articles it may help you as well.

Hi Paul,

I see I could be clearer on what I'm asking. I've been using Joomla since 2005 and know it well. This is the first time I am trying SP Page Builder to use on just a handful of landing pages, not my whole site which will have over 1,000 pages.

SCENARIO: Log into Administrator then create a New Article. You will see BOTH Joomla Editor AND SP Page Builder. So far, I am making a CLEAR distinction between deciding on when to use one or the other.

So far, it appears if I had started an article using Joomla Editor, and try to edit or add components within the same Article Body clicking on the SP Page Builder option, it breaks.

I am assuming it's not compatible, or best practice...? That is what I am trying to confirm.

With that in mind, can you please answer:

IS THIS TRUE?: Use either Joomla Editor or SP Page Builder when creating a new Article. NOT BOTH.

IS THIS ALSO TRUE?: If I create, or have, an Article that was made with Joomla Editor, I can ASSIGN a module built with SP Page Builder to that page; and that will work as expected...?

Thank you for your help. This is very important to how I want to proceed for sustainability and predictability.
