Upgrade PS Page Builder, Problems With Slideshow

MS

SP Page Builder 2 years ago

Today I upgraded Page Builder from 3.8.9 to 4.0.6. However, I encountered two problems, one worrying. I had slideshows on some pages on the site, some with images, some with videos. Result is that I no longer see them with the update. If I try to go back to the previous version of SP I see them, but inexplicably some pages return an error and I can no longer view them.

I tried to insert a slideshow into a page via Layauts->Bloks, but nothing is inserted.

I found one more problem, this one on two sites. When I want to insert an image, the media manager opens, when I click on Folders everything closes and freezes, not even the entries in the left sidebar appear.

I tried to downgrade to the version of SP (3.8.9) which has less problems, however on some pages I get this error "Attempt to assign property "cssClassName" on array". I would like to go back to this old version because objectively it has a lot less problems...

Hello Mario Sandri

Which is your current issue with Slideshow addon? Please share a screenshot of your issue to understand it better. Take a screenshot and share via any platform. For example: Lightshot

Best regards

I found the problem, but it is very specific and is generated in this situation. If I look at the site on any browser it appears correct, but if I enter the administrative part and do the following:

  • I open a page created with SP 4.0.6
  • I select an image and want to sample it
  • I select folder At the end of this operation the screen closes and I can no longer work on the image. This situation causes the slideshows to no longer appear on the browser I work on. But it is an apparent problem, not a real one. But the problem is that I can't work with SP 4.0.6 version. If I downgrade to 3.8 I have pages that appear to me with that error already notified ("cssClassName" on array")

I have checked the issue. I need to investigate more. Please take a full site backup with Akeeba Backup in ZIP format and share here. Follow this tutorial. I will check it on my localhost.

I see you did the backup yourself. I tried switching browsers, but the problem persists. Did you find any solution? At the moment I can't work on any page.

Please try a thing on your localhost. Use the site backup on the localhost. Then uninstall SP Page Builder and install it again.

I try to change the server web, from windows one to a linux. No differences. I try also without https, same results. I haven't been able to modify the site for two weeks, what should I do, do it all over again? I'm waiting for a working solution.

I solved it by completely redoing the website and then making it read the old database. I don't know why, but now everything seems to work.

Unfortunately I sang victory too soon. When I edit the pages, it doesn't show me the slideshows, even if they exist on the official pages. It does the same trick on me, although at least now I can edit the images and look for them in the folders folder. I do not know what to do!

Hi Mari, I found this out,

  • go to your folders to pickup a picture
  • as soon as you reach the spinner ( this little turning arrow)
  • SPPB crashes and you cannot edit anything As a workaround I reload the page (F5)
  • an prevent to scroll down to the spinner. Here is my screenrecord: https://hidrive.ionos.com/lnk/LAilCaj6

I did install SPPB new, tried different browsers, I setup a complete new page..... nothing helps :-(( ... I am very sad.

I think you have to re-create the slideshows. Since you have upgraded from SP Page Builder 3 to 4, the structure might be damaged.

My current situation, after recreating the site is that I don't see any kind of Layouts->Blocks on the backend side. Even if I try to insert one in a page I don't see anything, however the created ones continue to appear on the site in the front end

It looks like block or layout cannot be loaded. Please share your administrator access here to check the issue. Use the Hidden Content box to share the credentials. Make sure that you have a full site backup with you before sharing.
