it looks that "; comments" is parsing error in your case or somthing else cause that problem. It's not normal behavior in general.
Do you see language files from other components, please check & confirm. for example install Akeeba Backup or Phoca Commander etc.

be smart and do not use K2 anymore! It's waste of time, and cause only problems with Joomla upgrade or PHP 8 version.
