Did you mean the menu item active and hover color in the Header, please? If yes, then you can modify it in the preset tab of your Template Options:

on this page the header image is green leaves. but it is overlayed by something purple.

Here is the solution. By googling it, I found it's been asked about a few times in the past. Toget rid of the purple foreground image, put this code in the Custom Code > Custom CSS
