Complaints From Clients Re: Version 5

Figured I'd let you know how people feel with the last update to Page Builder

They feel v5 is taking them backwards in functionality and ease of use

Another example of this current version is worse than the one you trained me on. The editor that opens for a text box etc, is even smaller than the one we were using before. It is now a long rectangular box, no bigger than one of my 3 columns on my page. It can't be expanded, and the content is so condensed you can't even use it.

My biggest gripe is the fact that you have to sign in to both the front and the back in order to use it. I can't go from SP editor on the front to the admin in the back end anymore like before. The option for it on the top right of the page where you save it is gone.

I don't understand the purpose of the links on Pages in the back end. It looks like some kind of template when you click on it (I'm referring to clicking on the page name and not the editor tab).

My saved addons (including the timer you created) have disappeared.

Hi Matt,

  1. Read the last tip 5. from >> https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/sp-page-builder/how-to-tips
  2. Possible in Joomla J3 & 4.x in Global Configuration > System (tab) > Shared Sessions: Yes > Save

With every software upgrade there are advantages and disadvantages, also a matter of changing habits. This same voices were with Windows XP vs Windows 8, even Joomla versions etc. The only sure thing in the world is change.

If you have website backup - you can keep SPPB 3.8.10 for your client for next few months. Component will work even without new updates.

Thank you for the replies. And I do appreciate the fact that with updates comes changes. Sometimes better, sometimes not so much. But it just seems that the most used Add-on should work seamlessly, easily and without frustration to the end user. With this version we went from being able to click within a text block, click on a small icon on a popup menu bar and be able to adjust the text on a page TO having to login a 2nd time for frontend access, click within a text block, click full screen mode and then have to resize the window. We went from 2 steps to 4 steps to adjust text. Atleast could you somehow make the fullscreen function work properly? I know it is JCE's editor, but it works fine outside of pagebuilder. This is what my client is seeing when clicking on full screen: https://primefantasysports.com/images/screenshot.png

For the most part I really like pagebuilder, it has enabled me to do a lot more with the pages for my clients. Thank you for that.
