Header Customization

I want to add a Smart Slider 3 module above the menu. Have studied documentation at length. I think there might be at least two ways. Could be via custom module position or custom php. What is the best/easiest? Thank you. -JG

Hi Jim.

Hard to say, in most cases webmasters put Slideshow under the menu, not above. Anyway, you can create Custom Header (using Helix documenation guide) and just above header add new module position "slider" and there put your module. Finally, some custom CSS changes may be required, so keep that in mind, that is customization task.

Creating custom header using php files I don't think so it will be any better or faster than using Layout Helix features.

I would almost never put a slideshow up there. Usually it's used for added info such as contact phone and soc links etc. I take it I can call the new module position anything I want? And that's all there is to it? Does this also give the capability to assign different modules to different pages, which is a core feature of Joomla? I often like to do something special on the homepage and something more generic for inside pages. Thanks for the prompt response, Paul. I am new to Joomshaper but a veteran website builder well versed in customization and also a Divi developer member. This project involves redeveloping an old company site built originally with the Joomlart T3 system. -Jim G.

About module names, as Joomla veteran, you know that template file templateDetails.xml - keeps all modules names, but sure you can use custom ones, if somehow you really need to.

Does this also give the capability to assign different modules to different pages

Yes, Joomla just make request and check what module is assigned to subpage. It's that same like for Left and Right module position.

Thanks again, I think I'll just use an existing name rather than edit the core file. -Jim G.
