Turing Off The Front End Edit

SP Page Builder 2 years ago

I have a site ready to be transferred to the production domain, but I can't seem to switch off the front end edit option for SPPB Pro.

I know where the switch is (in Settings at the bottom) but when I make the change to OFF, the Edit button still appears. It's only on the SPPB page (home page) and when I inspect the element it's

<a class="sp-pagebuilder-page-edit" href="/j4/edit/1"> <span class="fas fa-edit" area-hidden="true"></span> Edit Page </a>

Many thanks for any support you can provide

Hi Neil,

it's a very rare problem, but can be solved in two ways.

  1. What SPPB Version you have there: 3.8x or 5.1.3?
  2. Please share access to admin area.

That's been fixed - you now have superuser rights

Thanks. Solved.

On list of modules you will find "Hide-Edit-Button-for-Guest" - it does what its name suggests - you can disable it if you will decide to see Edit button on front-end.

In general you have something wrong with Joomla ACL settings - Guest access is not used on your site, extra component ACL Manager probably could fix it.

Thanks Paul. That's great for the edit button on the home page.

I have paid and added ACL Manager and run the diagnostics and re-build the asset tables, but strangely the Edit Published Contact is visible on the Contact Us page. And currently anyone can edit the contact? Very odd.

It isn't like this on the J3.9 web site from which this was upgraded.

Any ideas?

  1. Hard to say why it happened, maybe somebody knows on forum.joomla.org, please ask, becuase this is Joomla Contact component, not SPPB this time. And yes, the problem was also when I switched to Cassiopeia template.
  2. I hidden "Edit" by now, using that same method as I used for SPPB edit button (Outer Scripts extension).
