SP Page Builder 1 year ago

Hi,

I want to link a neu item a section within Home page created using SP Page Builder. I tested using the full url as https://systemdev.emastpa.com.my/emascorpdev/index.php?option=com_sppagebuilder&view=page&id=27#home-partner

This works but this will break if i move the site to another domain. Tried that with other pages but does not work the home page.

How do i create menu link to an anchor within the same page.

Appreciate any help.

Hello Murugappan, to avoid broken links after site move use link without domain part: index.php?option=com_sppagebuilder&view=page&id=27#home-partner

Hello Murugappan Ramanathan

Please set a section id for the section.

https://prnt.sc/IhOFKyokTLqr

Then add this link to the menu item using System Links -> URL menu item type.

https://prnt.sc/uZPZMNCnExZA

Use the original page link + #sectionid

For example: the page link is

index.php/page

Then your URL will be

index.php/page#sectionid

Best regards

Hi MiBa

Thank you for advise but the solution will still break if "view=page&id=27" change. Then i would have search. This is how i do mods on pages:

  1. i save a copy of the page as "work"
  2. then I do all the mods on the "work" copy and test preview it
  3. if the outcome is good, i delete the original page and rename the "work" copy
  4. by doing this the id of the new page is different from the original one
  5. this will break in case of your suggestion

Hi Ofi Khan,

I am doing what you have suggested. Using the example shown in my screencap below, the "Partners" menu item (in the page footer) links to a section within the About Us page as you have suggested. This works great as along as I click the link from any other page. The link breaks with a 404 if i click the link within About Us page itself.

https://prnt.sc/x2IdfdEJpk4m

What i found is that, using your suggestion, any link to a section within the same page as the section does not work. E.g. A menu item in the home page pointing to a section within the home page seems to break into a 404.

You can test this on the site given in the hidden content in this post.

Hi Ofi,

Thank you for fixing the site. The solution is not good. What happens when I restore this site in another domain? The link will break. Sigh!

We all must learn new things everyday and push the old things behind. That is what innovations and intelligence is all about. Doing old things is just being intelligent without intelligence.
