Hi Team, next year june we need to have websites to welcome the blind or visually impaired people. Is there anything on the horizon to accommodate this?

Kind regards Hans Peter Betzler

BTW

Don't forget that "blind" people use their own browsers - that are smart, and help people read content easier than the default browser that you already have. There are also addons for the typical browser to improve general accessibility. This is topic for separate book, article or TV Program.

It is the job of the editors and webmasters to create pages and content that are readable. The legal requirements is only addition to prevent cyber/web exclusion.

Hi Hans Peter Betzler!

Thanks for reaching out.

Here is all about accessibility statement for SPPB and Helix Ultimate until now:

https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/sp-page-builder/accessibility-of-websites

https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/helix-framework/accessibility-statement

Have you checked this already?

Best Regards

@Rashida Rahman,

Have you read those statements? They are very wishy washy, very non-commital, and do not clearly state how compliant Helix and SP PageBuilder are with the regulations.

Your statement should say:

  1. We are compliant with X, Y, Z
  2. We are not yet compliant with A, B & C, but that compliance will be added before Jan 1st 2025

etc. etc.

Hi Hans and Stuart,

Accessibility topic is not so simple, addons can be accessibility, but user/wbmaster may forget to add ALT or use correct contrast colors or use Text as image file. Also in that area J5 is better than J4 or J3. In many areas webmasters/editors make supid mistakes, I see them everyday. But in general:

  1. SPPB is OK for Accessibility v 2.1A and probably 2.2AA - we done huge progress in current year to improve that in v5.x. Yes, few addons may still need some attention, but those popular ones are in 99% OK. And should pass all tests with proper settings.

  2. About Helix Ultimate (raw) - for sure we have to improve Mega Menu, missing keyboard navigation :/ - whole rest should be almost ideal to pass the online test.

  3. But anyway, You have to use Joomla Accessibility plugin or external script or extension to add extra features/switchers. And that helps a lot to pass HUMAN TEST.

Yes, I know about law changes for example in UK and EU. We will try to fix HU before end of the year. I will try to force that topic somehow.

If you have any ideas about accessibility what should be improved in addon A, B or C - let me know. Create a new topic and "call" me. And there share details. I will manage that.
