Upgrade To MegaDeal II Template 3.0

Hello, I received the news of the new version of the MegaDeal II template (3.0). I would like to know if it is possible to update an e-commerce based on the previous version (MegaDeal v2.4), since we are talking about migration from Joomla 3.10 to 4.4/5.2, transition from Helix 3 to Ultimate and from VirtueMart to EasyStore. Have you tested this upgrade/migration and do you have documentation about it? Best regards

Ciao Roberto,

sorry, but we don't have migrator between VM and EasyStore (!) and we don't plan it.

so if your site/shop still use VM keep it as you have it by now.

About Steps to upgrade Joomla 3>4>5 we have blog posts about that.

The correct order is:

  1. Backup
  2. Update everything you have
  3. Uninstall and Disable extensions that may cause problems.
  4. Upgrade to Joomla 4.
  5. Update what is needed.
  6. Test everything.
  7. Backup
  8. Keep Joomla 4 or decide to upgrade to Joomla 5

steps 1-6 - may take you a few hours! So don't start at 19:00 or later when you'll be tired.

Mostly is not a easy task, only sometimes you may have luck to finish that process in 40-90min.

Thanks Paul for the reply. In your announcement perhaps you should clarify better that MegaDeal II 3.0 cannot simply update old sites with Helix 3 and VM. I've had experience with migrations from Joomla 3 to 4, I agree that it is a challenge, especially due to the presence of third-party plugins. I have seen that Helix 3 works fine on Joomla 4.4; I have sites that I need to upgrade from Joomla 4 to 5.2 and I see that Helix 3 has Joomla 5 compatibility and PHP 8.2 compatibility. I understand that I can still keep Helix 3, but that it is not compatible with PHP 8.3. Is this correct?

Helix3 and Helix Ultimate are totally different template frameworks, so there is no migrator.

About Helix3 and Joomla 5.x in theory should, but ... that template wasn't updated for so long. And Yes, with PHP 8.3 / 8.4 can be small problems.
