SP Page Builder 8 months ago

Hi,

The site becomes inaccessible (blank page) when using Form Builder Addon (or also Contact Form) displaying following message: "Error 0 Too few arguments to function Joomla/CMS/Session..."

My environment: Joomla 3.10.12 / PHP 8.2 / MySQL 8.0.40 / Template Fortune 2.0.2 (based on Helix) /SPPB 5.5.2

**I precise that this issue comes when updating SPPB from 5.5.1 to 5.5.2

Thank you for your help fixing this...

If needed, I created a user for you to examine the site.

Please find the credentiels in hidden content.

The backup is done, but I specify the site is in production so please take a great care :)

Thank you

OK thank you.

For your information, I'm in the process of updating a whole series of websites that I manage, and I'm experiencing the same problem on other sites...

See this screencap: https://prnt.sc/-C-yW37AyVaK

The problem gets off when downgrading to SPPB 5.5.1...

Here it is the same: Joomla Version 3.10.20 eLTS. When I update from SP Page Builder Version. 5.3.6 to 5.5.2 all is messed up:

0 - Too few arguments to function Joomla\CMS\Session\Session::getInstance(), 0 passed in /var/www/httpdocs/components/com_sppagebuilder/addons/ajax_contact/site.php on line 109 and at least 2 expected

thx Alexander

Dear Ziaul, since the usage of Joomla Version 3.10.20 eLTS and SP Page Builder V. 5.3.6 there was no such problem! Any idea of what is causing this issue?

If you do a major Upgrade of your Software, I agree, when cutting of old versions of Joomla. Bute betweeen a release?

Regards Alexander

It’s difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of the issue based on your scenario. I would recommend setting up a separate development environment and upgrading your Joomla 3 site to Joomla 4 or 5. Once everything is working fine, you can proceed with migrating your main site.

In the meantime, if SP Page Builder 5.3.6 is working well with your system, you can continue using it. The upgraded version of SP Page Builder may not be fully compatible with your current setup.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thanks,

I found that the problem lies with the Ajax Contact Addon. I had this issue as well and it was VERY easy to spot the error where it reports:

...components/com_sppagebuilder/addons/ajax_contact/site.php"

So I disabled the Ajax Content addon in my SP Page and the fault was fixed.

I had updated from SPPB 3.X to the latest 5.X and this issue was observed. This is on a J3 site.

I would suggest hiding any Ajax Contact Addons accross the board until Joomshaper fix the issue themselves/

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your investigation.

Well I was aware it was due to the Contact Forms Addons (Form Builder or Contact Form)... It was precisely what I was pointing out (see my first demand above).

And I was asking for a solution to this very problem - not to be obliged to hide the forms waiting for a fix...

I agree Olivier. I am expecting that JS will dump the issue!

If you believe the issue is caused by the Ajax Contact addon, check whether you’re using an overridden version of the addon. If it’s an override addon, you can delete it and use the Contact addon from SP Page Builder instead.

This should resolve the issue.

Thanks!

Thanks - but no.. no overrides are applied. SPPBPro is literally straight out of the box.

Okay, then please go ahead and create a separate post for this issue. Once it’s up, I’ll investigate it further and assist you accordingly.

Thanks

Just name the folder /components/com_sppagebuilder/addons/form_builder Works for me!

The support is outrageous. It's frightening how ignorant the store is. Again and again you hit the wall of ignorance, procrastination and disinterest.

Of course Joomla 3.x is not up to date, but to update the software without notice and without regard to old versions and then to dismiss the users with such lukewarm slogans about Joomla 4 is really flat and nasty.

SP could be good, but is unsuitable for a website with high standards.

Fortunately, I only have 2 old installations left, so get rid of them!

Thanks for sharing your experience—and for the workaround with the /components/com_sppagebuilder/addons/form_builder folder. That tip might help others facing the same issue.

Please, keep in mind that If you’re still using Joomla 3.x, which is now outdated and no longer actively supported. Sooner or later, you’re likely to encounter more compatibility issues—not just with SP Page Builder, but with other extensions as well.

I strongly recommend setting up a development environment and starting the upgrade process to Joomla 4 (or Joomla 5). This will give you much better compatibility with the latest versions of SP Page Builder and other tools, along with improved security and performance.

Also, if you’re dealing with specific technical issues, please consider creating a separate post for each one—it’s much easier to help that way.

Thanks again for your input!

Hi,

We have the same problem, 'cause of Joomla 3.xx

You have to keep in mind that all of our clients does'nt have the budget to upgrade their site to J4 or J5

As a commercial extension, you should stay compatible for older version of joomla.

We are client of JoomShapoer since years and let you many $.

The minimum service you can do is to give help for older websites too.

Or doing something that stop upgrading PAge builder, than we stop paying for nothing

;)

In 2 months you don't even have the slightest idea and all you get are superfluous and instructive answers for idiots. Stalling support without competence.

I didn't even want to reply anymore, but ....

Why this stupid answer “create a separate post”? Exactly this reaction is the reason to tell everyone to avoid you.

I’m really sorry to hear how frustrating this experience has been for you. I understand your disappointment.

Regarding the suggestion to “create a separate post” — that wasn’t meant to dismiss your issue. When dealing with technical problems, especially those that may require user access or sensitive details, it’s important to handle them in a secure and private manner. Sharing access information in a public thread isn’t a best practice, as the original post creator and others can view it. A separate post or private support channel helps protect your privacy and allows us to give more focused attention to your case.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond, even if it was out of frustration. If you’re willing, I’d like to take another look and do what I can to help resolve the issue properly.

Thanks again for your feedback — it really does matter.

Best regards,
