Create Correct Override Without The Chance To Lose Overrides When Updating Helixultimate In A Later Stage

Hello,

I would like to create an override for the com_finder There already exists an override for com_finder in the templates/shaper_helixultimate/html folder/com_finder folder by default. Can i edit the files in this folder without having the change to lose them when there is a template update?

I tried creating a new override by creating a new com_finder folder in the overrides folder but when i make changes for example to the default_sorting.php file these changes are not taking into account. while changes to the default_results.php file in the overrides folder are taking into account.

Or do i need to make all my override changes just in the html folder if the com folders already exists there?

kind regards

Hello Rashida,

Thank you for your answer. After reading the documentation again i'm still confused. For example: let's say i want to edit a component that already has a /templates/shaper_helixultimate/html/com_NAME folder. Can i edit the files in this /templates/shaper_helixultimate/html/com_NAME folder without being afraid that they will be overwritten again when the template updates? Or do i move the /templates/shaper_helixultimate/html/com_NAME folder to /templates/shaper_helixultimate/overrides/com_NAME folder and can i make my overrides safely there?

It's not clear to me what is the correct way of working when there already exists a /templates/shaper_helixultimate/html/com_NAME folder

kind regards

Hi Tim,

Here is https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/helix-framework/template-views-override

This should only be used for the overrides existing in the HTML folder supplied with Helix.

For all other cases, use the HTML folder.
