Installing Downloaded Template Settings Versus Just The Template

We already have an existing site built from scratch on HU. Our intent is to revamp the site on the Flow template. I want to install the Flow template as a second template (not default) so I can start playing with creating new and modifying copies of existing pages, but using the settings and pages from the demo Flow template.

Questions:

Can I do this withough corrupting our existing site using the default HU template? If I download and import the template settings from Joomshaper (attached), will it create the demo pages? Exactly what template "settings" are imported from the downloadable settings packages? Template demo header settings? Template Demo pages? Template demo layouts?

I don't want to install the full quickstart package since I don't want to replace our existing site. However, suspect I will need to manually copy over the files to make demo resource graphics and other demo customizations available. Please confirm if this is true.

Will Flow Demo template bundled page layouts become available for new pages after importing "settings"?

Hi Allen!

Thanks for reaching out.

We do not have any template named Flow though. Did you tried to mean the Unfold template, since the screenshot shows this template?

A template controls the overall look and layout of a site. The template does not include any modules, components nor demo contents. If you manually install the template on your existing setup, you will need to manually create each article, add menu items, and install & set all the modules to suit your needs.

JoomShaper template settings include really very basic options for overall layout and design, such as typography, colors, etc.

You may consider to download and install the quickstart pack in a staging site or on your localhost, then use the export/import feature of the SPPB to get the SPPB pages from the test site to your live site. All SPPB pages can be exported. But not the category blog or similar pages.

Please let me know if you have anymore queries, I will try to answer them.

Best reagrds,

My bad. Yes, I mean Fold.

I am also able to download "Template Settings" from template downloads. Could you please explain what "settings" are imported when I import these settings into the advanced section of template settings for a template already installed?

No issues... :) I have already mentioned, but here you go:

In big short. If you want site that looks similar to demo, you have to install Quickstart.

Settings file contains only very basic template settings, but without any demo data.

Don't forget that you can install quickstart on test subdomain, only to preview how all was made, with possibility import-export selected page(s).

All depends on your needs and Joomla skills.
