Default Menu Item does Not Resolve Correctly In Multilingual Site

Hello folks

I am trying to build a multilingual site (English and Danish) using Joomla 6.0.0, PHP 8.4 and Helix Ultimate 2.2.1, yet trying to avoid any add-ons like SP-Pagebuilder. I have followed these instructions: https://www.joomlabeginner.com/blog/tutorials/237-how-to-create-a-multilingual-joomla-website and I managed to make it all work, IF the default menu item for the Danish and English menus point to single articles. However, my site is a blog and I want the default menu items to point to "Featured articles". In that case the two menu items end up pointing to NIL ("").

"Home" in English Menu for "Shaper_helixultimate - English"

Set to "Default Page" and Language = English

and in Off-canvas position:

However, this is what the menu item resolves to:

And seen in inspector:

As mentioned, everything works if I have "Home", the default menu item point to a single article, but not if I have it point to "featured articles"

Any advice?

My site is not yet online.

Hi Claus,

Thank you for reaching out, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you’re experiencing.

This issue may be related to how the default multilingual menu items are being routed internally when “Featured Articles” is used as the home page. To investigate this properly, could you please take a full site backup using Akeeba Backup and share the backup file with us? This will allow us to replicate your exact configuration and identify what is causing the default menu items to resolve to an empty path.

Once we have the backup, we’ll be able to provide an accurate solution.

Kind regards

Thank @Atick, I might have done you wrong. You see, I made some overrides to the article-, blog- and featured articles layout, having no idea that it could affect menu generation but apparently they do. Just to make sure, I tried to remove them and voila - now the Home menu items resolve correctly into "Featured articles" as they should. Much to my amazement, the inspector reveals the same code for the default menu items as before:

So I guess the final routing is done elsewhere. This is exactly the reason why I am trying to avoid add-ons like SP Pagebuilder because it adds an extra layer so something that is hard enough to troubleshoot as it is.

Thank you for responsiveness. I really appreciate that.

Yours Claus
