for sure, make it on full website backup on subdomain, for example, new.website.us

SPPB 3.8.10 works on Joomla 4.4.x it means that nothing will change. You can ignore Joomla warnings during update. I have one site, and all works (screenshot below). Remember only to disable or uninstall the "SP Page Builder Admin Menu" module from Administrator modules list. Then upgrade Joomla from 3>4.

Thanks Paul but it seems that wasn't the issue. Solved by uninstalling SP Page Builder and installing latest version (6.3.2 at the time)

Yes, that is more risky method, but also should work ;]
