SP Page Builder editor shows “Something went wrong!” after update to 6.10.0

Asked by Michel Baghuis 2 days ago Last activity 2 days ago

After updating to SP Page Builder 6 Pro 6.10.0, opening the SP Page Builder editor in the Joomla administrator displays the error:

Something went wrong!

I expected the editor to open normally. How can I fix this?

Hi there,

Thanks for reporting this, and sorry for the trouble.

This message usually appears when the editor loads files that don't match the new version, or when the update didn't finish completely. Please try these steps in order and check the editor after each one:

  1. Clear all caches

    • In Joomla, go to System → Clear Cache and delete everything.
    • Clear your browser cache, or do a hard reload (Ctrl+Shift+R, or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac). You can also open the editor in a private/incognito window.
    • If you use a server or CDN cache (LiteSpeed, Cloudflare, etc.), purge that too.
  2. Fix the database structure

    • Go to System → Database (on Joomla 3 it's Extensions → Manage → Database).
    • If SP Page Builder appears there, select it and click Update Structure (or Fix).
  3. Reinstall 6.10.0 over the current installation

    • Download a fresh copy of SP Page Builder Pro 6.10.0 from your JoomShaper account.
    • Install it through System → Install → Extensions. Don't uninstall first, because uninstalling can delete your pages. Installing on top keeps your content and replaces any files that were missing or only partly updated.
  4. Check for conflicts

    • Temporarily turn off any third-party SP Page Builder addons or custom addons, along with any system plugins that change admin output (optimizers, minify/compress tools, security plugins).
    • Open the editor again. If it works, turn them back on one at a time to find the one causing the problem.
  5. Check your server environment

    • Make sure your PHP version meets SP Page Builder 6's requirements (PHP 8.1 or newer is recommended) and that Joomla is up to date.

If the error is still there after these steps, please send us:

  • Your Joomla and PHP versions
  • A screenshot of the browser console: press F12, open the Console tab, then reload the editor
  • If possible, temporary admin access in the private/hidden field, so we can check it directly

With that, we can find the exact cause quickly.
