Not authorized to delete media!

Asked by Fernando Bautista 1 week ago Last activity 1 week ago

Greetings, I am a subscriber.

When I attempt to delete a video—specifically the file videoecosenderoazul.mp4 located in the banners/ecosenderoazul/ folder—via the media manager, a red notification appears:

Not authorized to delete media!

https://prnt.sc/56zgQLy-COju

It prevents me from deleting anything. I should clarify that I am the administrator of my website and have full permissions to perform any necessary actions. Interestingly, this issue does not occur when using the JCE file manager; it only happens when using the SP Page Builder file manager.

Additionally, I am trying to use the "Slides" (diapositivas) addon by uploading an MP4 video—the aforementioned videoecosenderoazul.mp4. I had to upload this file using the JCE file manager, but I encounter problems when working with the addon—for instance, when trying to delete the video or set it as a background. I wonder if this is because files must be uploaded exclusively through the SP Page Builder file manager.

I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue.

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Could you please share temporary administrator access to your Joomla backend? You can provide the credentials securely in the hidden content section. Also, please take a full backup of your site before we make any changes.

Once I have access, I’ll investigate further and see what’s causing the issue. Let me know once you’ve shared the details!

Best regards,

Hello,

During my testing, I noticed that videos can be deleted from the Joomla Media Manager, but there are some issues with media manager in SP Page Builder.

Could you please create a full Akeeba Backup of the website in ZIP format and share the backup file with me via Google Drive or another file-sharing service? Please ensure that I have access to download the file.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards

Hello, I have already shared what you requested in a private (hidden) message.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

The issue with the banner folder specifically concerns images, not videos, as shown in this screenshot on hidden content.

In SP Media Manager, you cannot upload videos to or delete videos from these folders. You will need to manage and delete them through Joomla's Media Manager instead.

Please make sure to upload videos only through the designated location shown here: https://prnt.sc/BosKlXOp_ywb

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards, Ziaul, and thank you for your response.

Let me see if I understand the situation correctly:

  1. If I upload files into the "IMAGES - BANNERS" folder (and its subfolders), they can be fully managed—created, uploaded, renamed, deleted, etc.—using other media managers. In my case, I use the JCE Media Manager, and indeed, I can perform all those actions (and more) with it; I was already aware of that.

  2. So, am I correct in understanding that I should use the SP Page Builder Media Manager to handle videos intended for use in addons—which will then appear in the "Videos" section of the SP Page Builder Media Manager—where I can upload, rename, or delete them? Is that how it works?

The issue here is that I create separate folders for each client at the following paths:

images/banners/clientfolder1

images/banners/clientfolder2

images/banners/clientfolder3

How, then, can I ensure that the SP Page Builder Media Manager uploads videos—or any other multimedia resources—into the specific folder for each client, rather than just into a general "Videos" location? I prefer to keep each client's information organized within their own dedicated folder, along with their respective resources.

Thank you very much for your helpful clarification.

Hi Ziaul,

Thank you for explaining your workflow.

You can upload videos through the standard Joomla Media Manager into any folder you prefer, including your client-specific folders, such as images/banners/clientfolder1, images/banners/clientfolder2, and images/banners/clientfolder3. You can then use those videos in SP Page Builder addons by selecting or specifying the appropriate video path, depending on the addon and supported video source.

However, videos uploaded to these custom folders cannot be renamed or deleted directly through the SP Page Builder Media Manager. To manage videos using the SP Page Builder Media Manager, you need to upload them to its designated Videos folder.

Therefore, if keeping each client's multimedia resources in separate folders is your priority, you can continue using Joomla Media Manager to organize and manage those resources and use them in SP Page Builder. The limitation is that you will need to manage those files through Joomla Media Manager rather than SP Page Builder Media Manager.

I hope this clarifies how the two media managers work.
