SP Author Archive 2.0.2 – Update Server Returns HTTP 404 (Gazette 2.0.5)

Hello JoomShaper Support Team,

I am using the Gazette template with SP Author Archive.

Installed versions:

  • Gazette: 2.0.5
  • SP Author Archive: 2.0.2

Joomla repeatedly displays the following warning when checking for extension updates:

Update: Could not open update site #556 "sp_authorarchive", URL: https://www.joomshaper.com/updates/com-sp-authorarchive.xml

I have verified that the configured update URL matches the URL shown in the warning. Opening it directly in an incognito browser window returns HTTP 404 (Not Found).

I also entered my valid JoomShaper license key directly into the SP Author Archive configuration, but this did not resolve the update server warning.

I found this previous support discussion:

Your support team explained there that SP Author Archive does not support live updates because it is distributed with specific templates.

However, I recently updated Gazette to 2.0.5, and SP Author Archive remained at 2.0.0. I subsequently downloaded the standalone SP Author Archive 2.0.2 package from the Gazette downloads section and installed it manually. The component is now working correctly, but the update server warning remains.

Could you please clarify:

  1. Is manual installation of the SP Author Archive package from the Gazette downloads section the officially recommended update procedure?
  2. Is it safe and recommended to disable the sp_authorarchive update site in Joomla to prevent the recurring warning, given that live updates are not supported?
  3. If updates must be installed manually, what is the recommended way to stay informed about new SP Author Archive versions?

I would like to keep the extension properly maintained without receiving recurring warnings from an unsupported update feed.

Hi Jindřich,

Thank you for reporting this issue and providing the detailed information.

As previously clarified in this support discussion, SP Author Archive is not a standalone extension. It is provided specifically for certain templates, so live updates are not supported.

I have forwarded this issue to our Dev team, and they will remove the obsolete update URL in an upcoming update to prevent this recurring warning.

You need to manually installed this from the Gazette downloads section.
