Error 500 al activar News365 en Joomla 6.2

Asked by La Verdad de Ceuta 3 days ago Last activity 2 days ago

He instalado News365 en Joomla 6.2 y, al activarlo, aparece un error 500. Esperaba poder activar la plantilla sin errores.

He realizado estas comprobaciones, pero el error continúa:

  1. He hecho una copia de seguridad del sitio.
  2. He actualizado News365 a la última versión disponible y Helix 3 a la versión 3.1.0 o posterior.
  3. He confirmado que el alojamiento utiliza PHP 8.3 o superior.
  4. He desactivado el plugin «Behaviour - Backward Compatibility».
  5. He borrado la caché de Joomla y del navegador y he vuelto a probar.

¿Cómo puedo solucionar este error?

Hello,

Thank you for the detailed information.

The error is caused by disabling the "Behaviour - Backward Compatibility 6" plugin. News365 is built on Helix 3, and some of its files still use older Joomla classes (JFactory, JText). That plugin is what keeps those classes available. Without it, the site throws this error:

Class "JText" not found
.../components/com_sppagebuilder/addons/blockquote/admin.php

The template's error.php then fails to load as well, which is why you only see the generic "500 – Whoops" page.

Solution:

  1. Go to System → Manage → Plugins.
  2. Search for "Backward Compatibility".
  3. Enable the "Behaviour - Backward Compatibility 6" plugin.
  4. Clear the cache (System → Clear Cache) and reload your site.

With the plugin enabled, News365 3.1.2 works correctly. We tested it with PHP 8.4, the Helix3 Framework and SP Page Builder 6.6.0. Please keep this plugin enabled whenever you use a Helix 3-based template.

If the error continues after you enable it:

  • Go to System → Global Configuration → System and set Debug System = Yes.
  • Reload your site and send us the full error message shown on screen.
  • Then set that option back to "No".

Templates: Edit Style
The currently installed Joomla! version is "‎6.2.0"‎6.2.0
LVC 2027
An error has occurred.

2 DateTime->construct() JROOT/libraries/src/Date/Date.php:97
3 Joomla\CMS\Date\Date->

...

Y en la web pública da el siguiente error. Fui solucionando cambiando las llamadas a funciones antiguas por las nuevas según la documentación en los ficheros php de la carpeta featured, pero aún así tenía que ir editando todos y me cansé.

Error ClassNotFoundError

'/' . $favicon);
...

¿Esta plantilla está realmente adaptada a Joomla 6? Tengo la versión 6.2, y la 8.3 de PHP.

Gracias por vuestra ayuda.

Hello,

Thanks for the detailed logs. Both errors have clear causes:

1. "JFactory" error on the site

Enabling the "Behaviour - Backward Compatibility 6" plugin isn't enough. Its Classes Aliases option also has to be on, and it's off by default on new Joomla 6 installs.

  1. Go to System → Manage → Plugins and open Behaviour - Backward Compatibility 6.
  2. Set Classes Aliases and Include Deprecated Classes to Yes, and make sure the status is Enabled:

  1. Click Save & Close, clear the cache (System → Clear Cache) and reload the site.

You don't need to edit the template files. If you changed any, please reinstall a clean copy of News365.

2. "{year}-12-31" error in the template settings

This is a bug in the template. The Coming Soon date field uses {year}-12-31 as its default value, and Joomla can't read it as a date. Changing it to a real date in the database, as you did, is the correct workaround. I will report it to our template team so it's fixed in the next update.

So yes, News365 runs on Joomla 6 once these settings are in place. If anything still fails, please share the new error message.
